I have been dining in Hilltop steak house for so many years, it's hard to count them. Hilltop S/H used to be much busier and the food was more consistently good than the present time. We dine there at least once a week. Last week we ordered fish, and it was almost undercooked and almost raw, and we had to give it back. Previous to that, I ordered filet mignon cooked medium, and it was way overcooked like well done. I dined there today and the shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were undercooked, but I finished them anyway. In my estimation, the best thing about Hilltop is their large, cold and fresh salads and especially their house salad dressing. [24 Jun 2003 01:50:19]

Hilltop Steak House I have been patronizing the Hilltop since the late '60's. Back in those days, you had to step over a bunch of draft-dodging hippies just to get a seat. Back in those days cows were bigger, steaks were juicier, the waitresses thinner and the sky bluer. These days, the steaks are smaller with far less juice. The salads are warm and the dressing is bland. All in all, pretty much what you would expect considering the draft dodging hippies are gone. [08 Oct 2003 14:19:16]

First Time There and 1 lb. Prime Rib Was 1/2 lb. Fat This was our first visit and we were very disappointed that the prime rib contained much more fat than in other establishments we have visited, and was not very tasty. Other than that, we had a nice time. [17 Jun 2002 12:37:26]

Try the Lobster Pie. I have been going to the Hilltop for at least 25 years and have never had a bad experience there. You can not go wrong if you order the tenderloin steak or the lobster pie (light on the crumbs), with a baked potato and their famous giant salad. The desserts are super if you have room. The service is excellent, also. [11 Aug 2002 22:30:58]

Try the Butterflied Filet Best filet I have ever had. Portions were excellent; salad was great. Worth every bite. Butterflied Filet Mignon. Staff were great. I recommend this to all my fellow Canadians, when in the Boston area. [23 Sep 2002 21:35:23]

Needs Training We always stopped for a bite to eat after a trip to the city.
Not anymore, the tips were dry and the waitress went home in the middle of serving us. No one asked how our food was, if we needed anything and just dropped off the check with out saying anything. Also the meat in the butcher shop has declined in quality. We also complained on the way out, no one cares. [25 Feb 2003 13:24:57]

Soaked at Hilltop I was recently at Hilltop and the waitress dropped a tray with five drinks down my back! I am not kidding. The waitress said she was sorry but we didn't get any type of reimbursement. They even made us pay for our drinks! [09 Apr 2003 16:59:51]

The waitress was very nice and friendly, the food was undercooked and took a while to come back, the waitress was embarrassed yet we told her she does not cook the food, the manager should make sure it is cooked promptly. [27 May 2003 12:29:34]
