The Best Italian Food I've Ever Had
The food was great at Amelia's Kitchen in Somerville. The fine dining experience at the Cambridge location was out of this world.    [01 Sep 2001 22:34:30]

Pricey with Slow Service
In my last visit to Amelia's Kitchen most things were as expected - good, reliable Italian food in a pleasant small setting.

Still, service was beyond unacceptable. I had to wait for an hour to get my main course - and there were merely six other diners at the restaurant. Never mind that, the salad took 35 minutes to arrive - and it was greens with cheese.

This is getting worse when you leave $40 for two people - salad was shared, Coke (no free refills) and two main courses. No wine, no dessert - expensive.

Until they shape up - and I am not going to try for a while - go someplace else.    [14 May 2003 15:19:08]

Eating More-Than-Good in the Neighborhood
Amelia's started out as a humble takeout pizza place, and has gone a little bit upscale with table service, beer and wine, and a bit of atmosphere. What remains is the unbelievably delicious pizza and panini -- a labor of love.

I often get takeout from there, but eating in is fine too, though the tables are small and the service can be slow. Try any of the pizzas - they often have interesting specials, like eggplant or shrimp with pesto. The panini are authentic - insanely good bread with just enough olive oil and filling. The pastas are solid, and the appetizers include a gigantic arancino, a softball-sized risotto blob gently fried and plopped in a lake of marinara, yum yum yum. One note: there is an Amelia's in Kendall Square, far pricier and with meager, uninspiring food - avoid it.    [06 Jun 2003 12:33:43]

HiddenTreasure
Amelia's Kitchen is a jewel of a restaurant hidden in Somerville. The fine cuisine of Boston's best without the parking expense. Their specials add some extra excitement to an already pleasing menu. Our two fussy teenagers even gave up fast food to head over to Amelia's. We've dined there about a dozen times and have always left full and satisfied.    [26 Dec 2003 20:51:30]

Worst Atmosphere Ever
Amelia's kitchen is one of the worst Italian restaurants I have even dined in. The service was bad. The food, I had to wait for 25 minutes for my salad (which came before the appetizer), and 45 minutes before I finally got to enjoy the entree, which wasn't anything special for the price that I paid. The wine was the worst Merlot I've ever had.

I hardly disrecomend that place. Not only is it pricey, the food is nothing special, and the atmosphere... Very rude manager too. Avoid it.    [27 Jan 2005 17:27:37]

European feel
I LOVE Amelia's Kitchen ...small and cozy, pretty ... authentic Italian. My only complaint is that in winter the doorway should have a curtain or something to keep the cold blast of air from coming in every time the door opens.    [10 Mar 2007 20:10:55]
