Civilized Barbecue OK, maybe barbecue shouldn't be civilized. But after you've crammed into Redbones or Blue Ribbon a few times, it nice to have a little breathing room, beer on tap, and a few more menu options. Most importantly, the Dixie Roadhouse has the best ribs ever. They're served dry, with meat pink and juicy and just falling off the bones.
Casual all-American dining at its best. [16 Nov 2003 09:50:21]

Smokin' in Waltham This is the real deal! I've traveled through BBQ country and this is by far the best I've had in the Northeast. [23 Nov 2004 18:01:24]

This Place Will Be Closed Before Too Much Longer When this place opened, the food and service were good, albeit not truly southern-style BBQ, and the wait to be seated was a good indicator of the quality. However, over the couple years since, both food quality and service have fallen drastically.
We went on Memorial Day 2005 and found it has finally hit bottom. The place was empty, but it took 10 minutes to get a waitress, another 10 minutes for drinks, then 45 minutes to get our cold food which had clearly sat downstairs waiting to be picked up by our waitress. The excuses were rampant, but what it really came to was that management no longer cares about running the business.
The ribs were terrible. Dry and no flavor. Beef tips were rubbery. Mashed were cold and lumpy. Beans were boring to say the least. [31 May 2005 12:00:44]

more like coke and earls This place used to be the best BBQ north of the Mason-Dixon line. Now it is an empty shell of a place. Food has gotten much better with the addition of a new chef but it still appears the owner has no clue. Wait staff is drunk and cursing on the job, all hard alcohol has either been watered down or mixed resulting in strange tasting shots and straight-ups, and cockroaches everywhere.
