An expensive pleaser
Stellina is a restaurant that provides excitement at the intersection of Italian and creative cuisine. Bored with plain Italian food by like the rules - Stellina is the place to go.
The establishment offers a very expansive wine list, both by the bottle and by the glass, and a reliable bar.
The menu offers a wide array of dishes, many are created on a temporal and seasonal basis - with an emphasis on locally grown produce.
With such a background - how good is the food? Well, quite good. I failed to be utterly wowed, but some dishes were truly nice, like warmed figs with prociotto and greens and feta cheese ravioli with beets.
Deserts were reliable too, as was the capuccino.
Still, from a restaurant aspiring to be what Stellina is should have better service. The food-offering bar staff was in a very restless state of mind, bordering on rude. Also, some dishes were not too exciting despite a semi-steep price tag.

All in all, Stellina is a great choice for a fine dining experience. Just be sure to arrive early or mentally prepare for a long wait.    [10 Nov 2002 21:51:41]

Great Non-Traditional Italian
I found Stellina to be a delightful find! The emphasis on seasonal, locally grown produce is evident in the frequently changing menu. Wait staff was attentive, pleasant and helpful on both of my visits, but the host/reception person was indifferent.

One note: this restaurant does NOT accept American Express-- as I found out on my first visit, to my chagrin, as I headed out of my hotel with only my AMEX card and $15.00.    [09 Sep 2003 11:19:37]
