A Wonderful Dining Experience Last evening my wife and I stopped at Cactus Pete's for a night out. What we had was a wonderful evening. The waitress (Sarah) was very pleasant, and friendly, a true asset to the establishment. As we are not big alcohol drinkers, we had a diet soda and an unsweetened iced tea. The complimentary peanuts were a nice touch. Our waitress took our orders, and efficiently worked the other tables nearby.
Our appetizer was 'Corn Fritters'. These were fantastic. A different batter than most, with the touch of cinnamon. Six medium size (ok, large size) fritters were accompanied with warm (imitation) maple syrup (real maple syrup is unheard of in most places). Following up with our house salads of mixed green, tomato wedges, cucumber slices and red onions (and a very good peppercorn dressing).
Our meals followed after our salads had been consumed (and dishes removed). My wife had the teriyaki chicken, which was two good sized chicken breasts basted with a nice teriyaki sauce (a container of additional sauce was on the plate for dipping). The menu stated that the dish was accompanied with rice, but was requested to be switched for the red bliss oven brown potatoes. The potatoes are worth the switch.
My order of the 14oz Sirloin strip was awesome. Ordered medium, it came just as requested. A very tender, and well marbled steak, it nearly melted in the mouth. We both were quite full, and took 1/2 our dinners home for lunch today (along with 2 of the corn fritters).
I can't say enough about our waitress. She was very pleasant and efficient. Beverages refilled even before the last sip was taken, table dishes cleared promptly, and very helpful on relaying daily specials. Overall, a very enjoyable meal. [09 Jul 2003 09:04:20]

I think the host there is great, plus the service and food. Always a smile when you enter, especially from the college people. They work hard and as a patron I appreciate that. Give tips always! [28 May 2007 20:27:21]
