Fine Dinner and Dancing at Its Best.
This is a favorite spot for my wife and me. The food is adequate, the service is outstanding, the wine selection is above average, and the ambiance is second to none.    [09 Mar 2004 11:42:26]

Disorganized, Incompetent
My wife and I traveled from NH for a Neil Diamond concert at the DCU. Our hotel, the parking garage attendant, and a postal worker all recommended Silverman's so we went for the first time. We had hoped for a nice leisurely and enjoyable meal before the concert. Were we ever disappointed! This establishment proved to be the most disorganized, incompetent, and professionally uncaring (except for June the bartender) restaurant I have ever been in!

We arrived at 5:45PM. We did not have a reservation so were told to sit at the bar with the comment "the food is the same." The bartender had to scurry around for menus. Between her filling drink orders for the whole restaurant and taking care of food and drink at the bar she finally asked for our order at 6:30PM. The wine arrived promptly and the appetizers (salad, bruschetta) by 7:00PM. Our entrees never appeared so at 7:35 we had to cancel the order in order to get to the show.

As we sat at the bar waiting and waiting various servers would arrive in the area and ask if anyone had ordered such and such. If people ordered it they said yes and scooped up the meal even if they may have ordered two minutes earlier. One lady, when given a wrong dish, said it was not what she ordered but it looked good so she would eat it. No consideration that it was likely someone else's food and the server did not seem to care either. One couple next to us ordered after us and got half their order, probably someone else's, but had to cancel when the lady's order never arrived. Another couple on the other side of us ordered at 6:15, got onion rings at 6:45 but left at 7:30 with no entree. A goup of 3 girls at a table behind us who had arrived at 7:00 had to fend for drinks themselves as no one was taking their order but somehow their steaks arrived at 7:25 and they seemed to be enjoying the meal.

June was obviously working her tail off at the bar and she kept apologizing profusely. She was the only good part of our visit. She said it was an unusually busy night. I find it unbelievable that a restaurant next door to the DCU would not know what was going on there and would not be appropriately prepared.

Needless to say, our first experience at Silverman's left a strong distaste for the place.    [06 Dec 2005 15:02:56]

Doesn't Get Any Better in Worcester
I've been going to Maxwell's for over 30 Years! And it just doesn't get any better in Worcester [or surrounding area] for fine food, great service from a great staff, and Week-end entertainment of song & dance. A great DJ playing our favorite songs from the 70's on up with dance floor and Disco Ball and lighting, which I might add there is never a cover charge for. The menu is loaded with everything from appetizers to veal and if you leave this restaurant hungry, it's your own fault. We recently went to celebrate a friends birthday and the Pork Special was incredible. It melted away from the bone and into the mouth, Highly recommend. The Bar area is a wonderful place to meet new people on the week ends and the bartenders are among the most competent and friendly as you'll ever meet. 30 Years! in Worcester, they must be doing something right. Want to impress that special date? I'd go to Maxwell's for a great time and when they see the ambiance of this restored old factory with it's old machinery as part of the decor, it'll be an instant hit I'm sure. Simply one of the Best restaurants you'll ever go to.    [19 Oct 2007 11:27:16]

No TURKEY for Thanksgiving
My family and I, 10 all together, went to Maxwell's for Thanksgiving, 2007. It was a horrible experience from start to finish. The seating was sporadic at best, we waited over 45 minutes with reservations, while others were escorted right in, also parties of 10 and 10+. We were given our bill immediately, which is fine, drink orders taken. We proceeded to buffet which was sparse to be sure, absolutely not what the ad in the newspaper had indicated but most importantly, there was absolutely NO TURKEY! For 90 minutes we were told that it would be out in 15 minutes, it never appeared. The rest of the food was disgusting with the possible exception of the potatoes. The ad had said that there would be pie for dessert, another lie and what was there was not edible. One member of the family found hair in her cheesecake, the coconut cake tasted salty and the chocolate cake was spit out and the person did not want to discuss what was wrong with it. When we told our waiter of our travails, he said that they were short of help and shrugged his shoulders. We paid the bill figuring that we would take it up with management after the holiday. We did call the restaurant and were told, "these things happen". When asked about the lack of food at the buffet, we were told we should have had an earlier reservation and we should keep that in mind for next year! As if.......    [05 Dec 2007 12:16:49]
