Small Restaurant, Big-Time Quality Food Cafe Assisi has limited seating and seems more like a deli from some profiles, but this tiny restaurant with framed photos of Italy on the wall offers fantastic homemade pasta with rich, red sauces, a terrific chicken parm, and some of the best pizza (the crispy, chewy kind) we've sampled in the region. The calzones are especially impressive, ample in size and bursting with real cheeses and sauce -- not the stale versions we experience all too often in some other pizza places. Cafe Assisi also serves wine!
Cafe Assisi might not have the glitz and marketing hype of other local restaurants, but what it does offer is fine Italian food that rivals some of the better affordable Italian restaurants in Boston's famed North End. [27 Aug 2008 07:01:00]
