The BEST of Bethesda Bethesda has more good restaurants than any other city of its kind, probably, but Black's stands out as quite simply, the best. The restaurant is owned and operated by Jeff Black, the former chef at Kinkead's (famous DC restaurant). Seafood and gulf coast specialties are the specialty. It may be impossible to go wrong at this place, just go and enjoy! It's expensive and worth it. [26 May 2000 14:24:08]

Left Ignored & Hungry My husband & I walked into a nearly empty dining room and were ignored for five minutes before we were given bread. Eight minutes later, and not even our water glassed filled, we walked right past the hostess and staff who had welcomed us and out the front door. No one said anything or attemped to find out why we left. [31 Jul 2003 13:54:18]

cindy
Quite good, reliable I sympathize with "cindy", but she should try again. Or try Addie's, Mr. Black's fancier place in Rockville, where the service is outstanding.
The food is just darn good. I've never been disappointed, and I am particular.
On the bar side, the oysters are excellent, and, along with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, are a key part of the long happy hour. [30 Sep 2003 15:18:24]
