Great Food but Slow Service We frequent Bugaboo during the work week for our lunch. The welcome is warm, the food is always great and the wait staff is pleasent. The time frame, however, is unreasonable and for salad, soup and some chicken we wait at least one hour. Recommended for lunch if your employer is not pressed about you getting back late. Poor Food, Poor Service, Filthy Bathrooms Went at 4:30 PM for dinner. Served very old coffee with no cream or spoon (waiter said restaurant had no cream in stock), had to finally get up and find my own spoon. Waited long time for food (place not busy) and finally, waiter brings food and serves our food to wrong booth. I was served very small piece (childs portion) of dried up salmon, lukewarm mashed potatoes, and "uncooked" carrots and brocolli. After vegetables were recooked, they had a white film on them and tasty rubbery. Husband's shrimp pasta dish had only 5 tiny pieces of shrimp. Men's bathroom was filthy. After complaining, we were handed the bill. We will never return and left feeling the place was under new management, and we were correct... now owned by LongHorn Steak House [21 Sep 2003 08:41:08]

Great Food, worth the wait There is a long wait between placing your orders and receiving them. However I feel that the food makes up for it. They have the best "Bloomin' Onion" type dish I have ever tasted. And i've had them from probably 20 different restauraunts. For steak nothing tops their 12 oz. Black Magic. I salivate just thinking about it. [10 Mar 2005 11:35:51]

I have always enjoyed eating at the Bugaboo resturant. In my view it is one of the best resturants in the Washington, DC area. [22 Sep 2005 15:59:07]

Great ! Great ! Great ! We went to Bugaboo Friday night (02/10/06)we used the "Call Ahead" option since they don't take reservations on the weekend. We were a party of 21. The manager went above and beyond to accommodate our family. Our waiter was great. The food was great. We were completely satisfied with our evening, which could have easily gone bad with such a large party. [13 Feb 2006 22:31:41]

Can be Good, Can be Bad Bugaboo is one of several medium priced steak houses in the same genre: mostly steak and beef and some alternate choices. They closed for nearly a year to renovate, yet the "new" dining room looks exactly the same as always. They have a number of animated and talking animals decorating the interior which will amuse the children for a while.
The beef and other entrees are reliably good, but sometimes the side orders are what make the meal special - fresh baked bread, appetizer, fancy dessert. In terms of the menu and food, I rate Bugaboo higher than the other steak houses in their price range.
HOWEVER...
It is nearly always very crowded and very noisy. The food is good, but you'll need to wait 45-60 minutes before you get any of it. Service during the meal can suffer as well, with meals coming out far too quickly or far too late. Some perfectly fine food was ruined by the poor service.
There is a full bar, with specialty drinks, but these can vary considerably: the same drink ordered two nights in a row might be delicious one time and swill the next [18 May 2006 13:55:46]
