Goodness- Gracious- Great Balls of Fire
I have never had such a wonderful time out eating as I had at Timbuktu. My wife and I traveled from Lusby Md. about 70 miles to try the rave that others were talking about. We were not disappointed. The crab cake were HUGE and GREAT to the pallet. I couldn't eat them both. Not so much for the size of them but from the delicious taste of them. Our waitress was very informative and polite. The gentlemen that filled my water glass every time it went empty; I applaud. My hat off to the Chef and to those that help him/her. Thanks for a wonderful time    [03 Jan 2002 07:01:05]

My husband and I and friends of ours went here because our friends received a g.c. Never even heard of it. I have to say the food was fabulous, the service great and the prices well worth it. My husband and I got the sampler for 2. It was awesome. I got the crab imperial. Huge. My hubby got stuffed flounder. Huge. My girlfriend got stuffed soft crabs and her hubby got crab imperial. Crab Cakes

Bad Smelling Seafood
We went to Timbuktu's fully expecting good food and service, but we received neither. The place smelled fishy when we went inside, and our server was very unresponsive. We ordered the seafood combo dish, and it too had that rotten fishy smell to it. It was quite awful!    [18 Jul 2003 18:57:04]

Overstuffed !!!!
The food is some of the best I ever tasted!! I've been trying to find crabcakes that match up to these. I have yet to find anyplace to compare to what I have been experiencing. My wife makes sure every time we come to the D.C. area that we visit this restaurant. We travel all the way from Atlanta just to taste such succulent seafood!!    [21 Jul 2003 23:46:01]

Awesome Menu, Awesome Prices
Last night my mother wanted to take me out to dinner for helping care for my father, who has alzheimers, while she was in the hospital for a week. Telling her she didn't need to do this, she insisted. We decided to have sushi at Orient Express off Coca Cola Drive but as we were coming off 100 on the exit, she decided at the last minute she wanted to go to Timbuktu. Having eaten there before from work, I told her it was kind of pricey but well worth it. We were greeted at the door very pleasently and immedately seated. (Thank God, because after we sat down, people started flowing in!) Our waitress was very very pleasent. She recommended some dishes and specials. My mother took the Thursday special of Orange Roughy, my father had the single crab cake, and the pig that I am had the seafood platter. We also had a plate of oysters on a half shell for an appetizer. The flounder on the platter was DELICIOUS. The scallops here humongous! The 3 of us could not finish what was on our plates. We didn't fill up on the breads and crackers and wine cheese before the meal and we still woddled to the car afterwards. The price was well worth the food and the service. BELIEVE the hype!
As a seafood lover I highly recommend this place. Like many others I heard the buzz about how great the food was for some time before I made the trip. I live approx an hour away, but it's well worth the drive. The service was just fine, the food perfect. I will say that the ambiance was mediocore but the food more than made up for it. Crab cake lovers: you won't find a better, bigger one elsewhere, trust me. couldn't believe my eyes & couldn't finish it. Can't wait to return to Timbuktu!    [31 Mar 2006 04:49:10]

Great Food
I am hosting a reunion in the summer. My hotel referred me here for good seafood. I have had crab cakes, and I love fried food, but I tried the Broiled seafood platter. Plenty of food. Great Value. Good food, borderline rude service
They have a great monday night special on the lobster. prepared to perfection, but we spent the whole night waiting for bread, more drinks, condiments, and the check. We waited forever.
