Novelty Worn Too Thin
When restaurants of this type first opened, they were quite a novelty. Alas, the novelty has worn off, and the clones of those originals aren't nearly as well done.

We had to wait for a big enough group so that they could crowd us around the grill. Everyone had to eat at the same pace - which means extra fast if you ordered an appetizer. Our "chef" made a bit of a show with the cutlery, but basically all the food is pretty much the same except for the main ingredient - beef, pork, shrimp, etc. And the result was pretty mediocre.

I was not as amused as some, and didn't think the food quality wasn't worth the discomfort and inconvenience. But I suppose I should have applauded more, since those who did seemed to get their food first, and more of it. Since most of it is prepared in one communal heap, its up to the "chef" to decide who gets what, and when. By the time I had gotten mine, some of the others had already finished.
