Maryland Gem Worth A Day Trip! After crossing the Potomac on White's Ferry, we came upon Bassett's small, lovely restaurant. It is a warm and hospitable gem, and a destination in itself. They offer 4 tapas, steamed spiced shrimp, soups, salads, appetitizers, 2 pastas, a long list of interesting sandwiches, incredible crab cakes with yummy home made tarter sauce ( which is a waste, because the crab cakes are too good to cover up) , and brussle sprouts with bacon that are good enough to convince a veggie hater to have them as a main course. The desserts are sinfully good-especially the tres leches cake which is not really a cake, but a dense riccotta-like pie topped with strawberries. [13 Nov 2006 09:14:59]
