Wonderful Cuisine Possibly the best food in all of Rockville. Eclectic menu prepared by the former chef at Kinkead's in DC. Only low point is the atmosphere, rustic for such an expensive and fine restaurant. No air conditioning either. For the same food with a focus on the Gulf Coast, with a nice atmosphere go to the owner's other restaurant-- Black's in Bethesda. [11 May 2000 10:29:13]

Great Place The food is great, and you can't eat atmosphere. (Not that it was all that bad: they're just set up in what seems to have been a house at one time. It's perfectly nice, just not chi-chi. If you want that, go to Bethesda and look for a place to park!) We had the grilled shrimp salad (excellent), the halibut (ditto) and a pheasant and ostrich combination special that was terrific. My wife had the white chocolate mousse for dessert (she loved it) and I had the blueberry shortcake. It was OK, but the vanilla ice cream they topped it with was the best I've ever had. Dinner for two with salads, appetizers, and dessert was $93. (No wine - we don't drink!) Still, it's a great choice for a reliably outstanding meal [30 Jun 2001 20:27:41]

Wonderful food, but . . . We love Addie's food, the service and the adorable decor. What we don't like is the outrageously expensive wine. $7.50 for a glass of wine at lunch? Ridiculous. Unless this is Addie's way of saying don't drink and drive. Still, this is the only chink in an otherwise perfect place. [09 Feb 2002 00:35:49]

It's great! I rather like the atmosphere and think it's charming with the tables in the different rooms of the house. I keep going back and introducing friends to it and even arranged my office holiday luncheon there. The food is superb, and I've never missed with anything I've selected. [18 Mar 2003 12:29:54]

Not enough staff This place was highly recommended to me, but what a disappointment when I walked in on a busy lunch hour. Tables were packed, I was completely ignored at the door although the staff and hostess did see me. I waited 5-10 minutes checking out the menu, trying to be patient and then left. A nice "someone will be with you in a moment" or even, "there's a wait" would have been appreciated. [03 Aug 2004 10:11:43]

Good food, but not the same place that people went to 2-3 years ago Much of the info that has been submitted about this restaurant in the past is outdated. They do not make burgers anymore. It's basically like getting food at a pricey trendy downtown restaurant, and eating it on your front porch. The prices are on par with the trendy restaurants, too. Minimum entree is $18 (vegetarian). The cheapest meal with meat is the chicken $21. The "special" was $25. If you get appetizers, drinks and dessert, don't expect to leave without plopping down at least $100 for you and your date. The cuisine is certainly on par with the price, but it's hard to swallow a $21 chicken breast, even if it does taste good. If the same entrees were $12-15, I would be jumping up and down screaming to the world that they have to go try it. At prices like these, it's no surprise that there wasn't the long wait on a beautiful Friday evening, like other reviewers were describing a few years ago. Several commenters have rated Addies as "kid friendly". In terms of atmosphere, this is true, but in terms of food, unless your child has been raised on haute cuisine, or you bring food from Chili's up the street, they probably won't be happy. Contrary to previous reviews, the wait staff was very friendly, very attentive, and very helpful. They were the highlight of the visit [11 Jun 2005 12:41:22]

Consistently Fabulous My husband and I treat ourselves to an expensive dinner at Addie's 2 or 3 times a year (and always on Valentine's Day). We have never had anything but the best experiences, the most friendly and efficient service, and the absolute best food. Its worth every penny, every dish is unique and exotic, and the ingredients used are expensive so I don't expect a bargain meal when I go there. [31 Jan 2006 07:51:04]
