Wonderful cuisine I'm grew up in Florida where Cuban food was plentiful, and this is the best Cuban restaurant I have visited. [30 Jul 2003 12:12:09]

Amazing Find! When some friends wanted to take me to Silver Spring for dinner, I wasn't too happy about it. I seldom leave the District of Columbia. "But Cubano's is just over the Disctrict Line!" they said to persuade me.
The moment we walked through the front door we were greeted with aromatic intensity that I reacted to as if it were Pavlov's bell.
As an appitizer, the Chicharones were delectable and savory. Vaca Frita, my entree, was a fantastic find for me, as I love beef, and this preparation was new and delicious to me. One of my hosts had the Filete de Pescado a la Varadero - it was outstanding and wonderfully presented.
Although we did not have it, a couple near us had an exquisite looking Paella served tableside - the voluptuous steam that arose when the waiter lifted the lid to serve it was a delight, plust the diners seemed to enjoy it very much!
The dining rooms are charming and the service was fine. But the only thing that upset me was that the view out of the window at our table overlooked the outdoor patio encased in ice! I know I will visit again in the summer, perhaps several times, to sit under the stars sipping a mojito. [15 Jan 2004 16:45:37]

Break the Chain! As a long time resident of the Cubano's neighborhood, I was excited to see redevelopment come to the downtown. But with it came the predictable chain restaurants: Red Lobster, Macaroni Grill, Starbucks, etc... Thank goodness for Cubano's! Family owned and operated, it feels like dining in a familiar home of your Cuban friends. Everything is homemade, hearty, and nothing like a corporation's "faux ethnic" that seems to be sprouting around us. [25 Feb 2004 14:29:12]
