Charming country home cooking by the RR track in the picturesque town of Washington Grove MD. This century old restaurant has established a tradition of good food, and friendly atmosphere. The new owner has a solid foundation in food service management and it shows. The restaurant is divided off from the bar so those who dont want to be assaulted by TV, the music machine and sporting events can be in a quiet environment. A delicious buffet is served every Saturday and Sunday for a very reasonable price. [16 Oct 2004 08:36:53]

Very Reasonable, Dependably Good It's been there for years, across the road from a railroad station that has long since been abandonned. The main roads and main traffic have shifted well away from this restaurant, but those in the know manage to find it and keep coming back. It not fine dining, but very reasonably priced for a perfectly fine meal - very popular with locals, and seniors on a fixed budget.
The cuisine is strictly "American", with fried chicken being the specialty of the house. You won't find anything too elaborate on the menu, but there are nightly specials that offer a bit of variety from the standard menu. It has a decidedly "homey" atmosphere, with a friendly down-to-earth staff who will accommodate your needs in any way they can. Its relaxed and comfortable, with a TV in the dining room to watch if you're so inclined, and the occasional rumble of a train going by across the street.
The bar is very popular with local groups, and can get quite crowded. In summer, they offer soft-serve ice cream outside, and a flea market fills the parking lot on Saturdays. This is the kind of place to go to when you just don't feel like cooking and want a decent meal at a decent price. Unpretentious, casual, inexpensive, but good. I've probably eaten here more often than any other restaurant in the area.
