food vs. Service
Had opportunity to dine two nights in row. First night was excellent in regards to food, service and overall enjoyment. Second night was like entering into twighlight zone...service chaotic eg: appetizers arrived after soup course (oysters on halfshell). Server did not have her act together, long wait to point that we asked to have the main entree packed to eat at home. Food was excellent but did not make up for poor service. God help them during tourist season!    [05 Jun 2004 16:03:20]

Worst Restaurant Ever!!!!
I went on a cruise through Casco Bay Cruise lines. A bus group of around 100 people came aboard when I went. They told us where the restaurant was located and that there would be enough seating. We get to the restaurant and if you weren't part of "the bus group", there were only five tables open outside. If you didn't get one of the five tables (many did not), then you didn't get to eat. The boat trip was 6 hours long...can't go without food!!! I was lucky enough to get a table outside (all outside tables were next to the smelly garbage) and the prices were ridculously high for plain, but expensive seafood. I have never had an experience this bad...    [24 Jul 2005 21:28:33]

Service was awful. Waiter spent more time in the kitchen than in dining room. Appetizer took 1/2 hour to arrive. Dinner another half hour. Never brought back drink refills during main course. I complained to management about poor service and they took one entree and drinks off of bill. Food so-so and overpriced.    [29 Sep 2005 07:37:24]

Better days???
Pricey for what I consider ordinary food and less than average service. Chowder is a thin potato soup with a few strands of clams (at least I assume they were but not enough to know for sure).    [29 Oct 2005 18:03:17]

Maine at its finest!
We were met with smiles from the second we walked in the door, the food was excellent (we split a 4 lb jumbo lobster!), and although you could tell our server was in training, she was friendly and informative. We were on Bailey island for the weekend and were at Cooks every night. My favorite was out on the deck, watching the sunset, with a lobster roll and a local beer.    [10 Feb 2006 02:19:11]

The best!!
We have been eating at every seafood restaurant we could find for the last 25 years, and had never been to Cook's.
We finally got there on our 25th wedding anniversary and had the best meals ever. The lobster tails were sweet and tender, not rubbery and overcooked. I am a fried clam nut and these were absolutely the best I ever tasted (crumbs, not batter).    [16 Oct 2006 08:45:18]
