Best Sushi in the state of Maine Sushi chef Ting makes the absolute best sushi I have ever had and I have been all the way up the eastern seaboard. I have been eating sushi for about 10 years and Ichiban is the best. To beat it all the prices are fairly cheap, but don't tell Ting. [13 Mar 2004 17:41:21]

Ichiban rocks I agree with the other reviewer, completely. It is an incredible oasis in Maine. [14 Feb 2005 14:27:36]

Definitely the best sushi I have ever had. Admittedly, I haven't had the other dishes on the menu yet, but I'm sure I will get to them soon enough-I'm going there tonight! [23 Dec 2005 18:27:30]

It's a nice place I have to disagree with the other reviewers. It's a nice place to go if you need a sushi fix, but it by far is not a top place by any means. For one, Ting is not an authentic Japanese sushi chef and you can tell in the details if you're a real sushi afficionado. The dishes in the kitchen (non-sushi) are clearly not being prepared by Japanese people or people who have studied under Japanese chefs as they lack the attention to detail and so the food borders on mediocre. Some of the dishes aren't prepared in a Japanese style either.
That being said, the quality of fish is great, they regularly have great, fresh looking fish in the window. [22 Mar 2006 16:52:28]

DELICIOUS! Honestly, It's Friendly! It's TASTY! It's Beautifully presented and the personality of the Chefs are the most indearing. I love the food, it's on the inexpensive side, compared to other sushi places. It's number one in my Taste. [08 Aug 2006 22:08:13]

It is fantastic I have had Sushi in 14 of the American States and also in Japan. This sushi is very good!!! We stop in at least once per year-and love it. I disagree with the respondent whom said that it is not authentic. It is as close as you can get in the States!!! [08 Feb 2007 17:56:22]

Fantastic We stop at Ichiban at least twice a month. We have only had the sushi there, and it is the best around. I don't recommend going here if you are in a hurry, and the service tends to be slow, but the food is worth the wait. Prices are reasonable. [05 Jun 2007 17:20:45]

Pretty darn good So I'll say right now that I was new to the whole sushi thing when I moved to the States (military brat), but since I've had the chance to sample places in Missouri, Oklahoma, Maryland, Maine, and a few other states. Ichiban while not ranking at the top for me, was still pretty darn high. The fried Ice cream alone should set it up as mouth watering awesomeness. Cali, shrimp tempora, and phili rolls were all exceptional. [30 Sep 2007 15:06:08]
