Cafe Bluefish Funky decor mirrors the imaginative and savory menu. Like a cafe that you might find in the Village but not Bar Harbor, the one in NYC.
Delicious. Love the Lobster in philo and the house salad with balsamic-maple dressing - also loved the pumpkin crumble - yum. [25 Apr 2003 16:38:55]

Poor Reception Wife and I liked what we'd read about the Cafe Blue Fish and went one evening w/o a reservation. Early dining elsewhere in Bar Harbor had not been a problem There were quite a few diners, but several vacant tables. The hostess conferred with a man over their reservation book for quite some time before she came back to say, I thought, rather sarcastically, they could take us in an hour. We decided to go elsewhere and glad we did. We had a very pleasant dinner next door w/o the hassle. [15 Oct 2004 08:17:45]

From the Owner - Why Not Give Them the Benefit of the Doubt I am responding to the anonymous (non) diner who took the time to write an unfavorable review of Cafe Bluefish because they couldn't get a table without a reservation and "thought" the hostess was sarcastic with them about it. It seems particualrly unkind to put something so negative on a web site for all the world to read, based on such small and unclear evidence.
As owner of Cafe Bluefish, I would like to apologize for any sarcasm that an employee of mine might have displayed toward you. I would never sanction such behavior, but must maintain that it seems particularly unkind to write such a public review without first giving the management a chance to address it. our absolute FAVORITE Bar Harbor restaurant My husband and I spend a week in Bar Harbor every September and we eat at a different restaurant every night except for Cafe Bluefish which we dine at two nights. The people are wonderful and I like playing trivial pursuit with the cards at the table. [15 Apr 2006 21:43:07]

Lobster Streudal Last summer I had the opportunity to work and live in Bar Harbor and I jumped on it. I met the owner of Cafe Bluefish one night at work and she cordially invited myself and my girlfriend to eat at her cafe. That same week we decided to take her up on her offer. My roommate, girlfriend and myself all decided to make a night of it and that we did. We started out with a lovely bottle of wine, that was recommended by the owner,(Very Very Good) we then moved on to salad and appetizers, which were delightful. Then hands down, the stuff memory's are made of, best damn dish I ever had, LOBSTER STREUDAL, it was amazing. As if the night could not get any better The chocolate cake comes out, it was out of this world. I did not know that is was possible to pack that much flavor into a meal. Through out the summer I tried many of the other restaurants and although some where good nothing compared to the lovely atmosphere and excellent dining at Cafe Bluefish. I further recommend everyone make this a stop or two if you plan to visit Bar Harbor. [07 Jun 2006 21:04:23]
