an excellent place for vegetarian fare I recently had both dinner and lunch at this new vegetarian cafe and was incredibly impressed with the food. The meals were easily among the top two or three vegetarian meals I've had in the last 30 years. While the ingredients were excellent, what really made the dishes stand out was the creativity and care the chef showed in combining textures and flavors. A simple frita, for example, hadd a romano cheese crust whose tanginess melded perfectly with the melted herbed potato and carrots topping. [19 Jun 2003 22:02:10]

Gourmet Vegan Excellent entree's.
The appetizer was crisp lavosh strips served w/a light avacado cream spread.
I had the Tofu Marsala in light sauce w/capers. My husband had the Tem-ph w/white turnips.
Dessert was the chocolate cake w/vanilla cream.
Highly recommended cafe. [01 Jun 2004 17:39:59]

Vegan Fine Dining Foodwise, dinner at Eden during our annual trip to Bar harbor is the highlight of our year. The menu is never huge, but always makes use of what's local and in season. Dining here is a calming ritual in a tranquil, spa-like atmosphere. I love that the past few times I've been there has been a vase of fragrant peonies somewhere in the dining room. Lavash with fennel seeds and olive butter, served in stoneware seemingly made for the purpose. Our servers are always attentive while giving us a feeling of privacy and leisure to enjoy our meal. Tea comes with a timer that was flipped for you when your pot was filled. Really, every detail seems to be carefully considered. When going out to eat often means choosing from the one or two concessions to vegetarians a restaurant deigns to include on the menu, and grilling your server for potential meat products in your food, coming to Eden is bliss.
