Definitely put Mache Bistro on your Maine to-do list. This little restaurant in downtown Bar Harbor just re-opened in June '09. The food is described as "French food with a local flair." And "flair" is correct!!! The food is delicious. The place is small and comfortable. Very simply and tastefully appointed. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. My only problem was deciding what to order. I wanted the whole menu! I "settled" on the Fresh, Local, Pan-Roasted Halibut Beurre Blanc with Roasted Maine New Potatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the tastes were nothing short of spectacular. Seriously. The best review I can give it? I'll go back again and again and again. [20 Jun 2009 22:01:58]

World-Class in Northern Maine This restaurant is fabulous! The cozy setting is perfect to enjoy the great food that this restaurant can provide. For starters, we had Maine Crab & Lobster Cakes and a unique Lobster Roll, which is lobster meat, caramelized onions, and brie rolled in a griddle-crisped flat bread. Delicious! The green salad that followed was crisp and fresh, and very flavorful. The mains of Hanger Steak and Duck Two-Style: Duck Cassoulet and Seared Duck Breast, were nothing short of astonishing in its flavors and balance. The crème brûlée finishes a most satisfying meal. A most wonderful dining experience from beginning to end, appetizer to dessert! [13 Oct 2009 16:23:08]
