Well thought out menu, perfectly executed Attended a wine tasting & the hors d'ouvres outshone the wine so we booked dinner for the next night. Menu limited to 6-8 appetizers and 7 main dishes, which means each is done really well. (probably changes seasonally(?)) More than one vegetarian option. The Cod Chowder "reconstructed" was a fantastic main dish layering Cod on a veg ragout with perfect vin blanc sauce. Short ribs you could eat with a spoon. tempted to order the beet & goat cheese risotto...maybe next time. Dessert equally well designed, sourdough chocolate cake with hazelnut ice cream, Lemon curd & berries, yum & rosemary shortbread with something on top which I cannot remember because the shortbread took center stage. Good selection of good wines, by the glass & bottle, resonably priced. Out of this world view over penobscot bay. Out of the way site keeps the experience tranquil & civilized. I understand they run a Pizza night with slices of all kinds of ingredient choices. [19 Aug 2006 21:36:45]

Best Dining Experience We've had in Mid-coast We've been vacationing in the Rockport/Camden area for several years and finally bought a house here. Our main gripe with the area is that we've always been disappointed with our dining experiences due to poor service, and over-priced mediocre food. The Edge offered a tremendous experience with a fabulous location, creative and delicious menu, professional service, and a general feeling that they cared about what they were doing. Although not inexpensive, the prices were similar to what I've paid for grossly inferior meals at local restaurants. The menu changes continually based on the chef's mood, and availability of fresh ingredients (you'll notice the date printed on top). I recently brought a group of family members who live in Boston and New York (including difficult to please and vegetarian), and everyone raved about it. This is a very sophisticated restaurant with a highly skilled chef, who apparently prefers offering a small selection of well executed creations rather than a standard menu of dishes that can be cranked out by high school kids. The open kitchen, wood fired oven, and courteous staff all added to the experience. The Edge is, by far, the best restaurant I have found in the area. [04 Oct 2006 09:33:45]
