Excellent Mediterranean cuisine. The prices are a bit high for this neck of the woods, but the food and service are excellent. Greek, Italian, Spanish and similar style dishes are flavorful and/or subtle -whichever is appropriate for the dish, and not at all skimpy. They have a decent wine selection. Subtle touches add to the experience, such as proper wine presentation and small Tapas dishes presented gratis by the chef. The dining area is very small, but tasteful and not crowded. Best Restaurant in the Midcoast. My wife and I have been coming to the midcoast area of Maine since 1995, and the only thing we make for dinner is reservations. More often than not the reservations are at Amalfi. We have yet to find, (but we are still looking), such a fine combination of frest ingredients, interesting dishes excellently prepared, and attentive service. Amalfi will soon be moving to a remarkable waterside site in the former MBNA building at the south end of Main Street and so we anticipate many more fine meals there, but now with an ocean view as well. My favorite restaurant in Maine! Wonderfully prepared foods, fantastic flavors, with emphasis on Mediterranean cuisine. The seafood is outstanding, and always perfectly prepared. Even the bread is made there and is delicious. The Chef/Owners are CIA graduates and it shows. Make a point of stopping here! [03 Feb 2008 16:23:47]
