THE BEST Wasse's Dogs are the best you can get. In my quest to find the best dog, I travelled up the East Coast from the Jesey Shore to ar Harbar. Other notable dogs can be found at Nathan's in NYC, and the Greeks in Philly. But by far, Wasses are the best. [06 Jun 2003 18:03:37]

Wasses could be the best! I grew up just outside of Rockland and had the best of luck to be near Wasses. They never sacrificed the quality of their product! Always fresh and warm, their hotdog rolls are steamed so they literally melt in your mouth with the perfectly grilled to order sweet onions and high quality dogs. You just can't beat their dependable quality and taste for a simple and satisfying light or heavy lunch! [15 Sep 2003 23:32:57]

NOTHING BEATS A WASSES HOTDOG! I grew up in Rockland, Maine. I can still remember the delicious smell of Wasses hotdogs wafting around Rankin Block. I have driven from Boston to Rockland just to have lunch at Wasses and I have NEVER been dissapointed! [16 Mar 2004 23:38:36]

Usually great, but occasionally inconsistent. Although I would agree with the other reviewers in general, I have received hot dogs there in the past that were obviously a different brand or style and were not as good as their usual.
This only happened a couple times in the few dozen times I've partaken, so it was probably a fluke ocurrence where the dogs ran out or their food order was wrong. [15 Jun 2004 12:49:43]

Wasses has taken hot dogs to the next level I come up to Camden, ME, every summer. One of the greatest things about my visits are the frequent visits to Wasses North in Rockland, ME. Following a round of golf, their hot dogs really hit the spot. [19 Sep 2004 00:58:20]

Three Dog Night? Hell no! A 3 dog lunch! On the road in the mid coast area of Maine? Want a tasty and cheap meal?
Ya gotta try Wasses' Hot Dogs! Grilled lightly in peanut oil, and served with grilled, carmalized onions, they are scrumptious, and inexpensive treat.
Why, during the summer high season, you're likely to line up with some famous celebrities, as they wait for the next ferry out to the islands, or a couple of lobstermen on their way home from hauling traps.
3's about right, with some chips and a soda. [10 Nov 2004 15:15:57]

The best Hot Dog around. Went to the Lobster Festival in Rockland Maine . Not much of a hot dog eater but I ate 6 of Wasses dogs in 2 hours. They are great. Start Selling them at Fenway Park. [25 Mar 2005 17:14:30]

For anyone who doesn't like hot dogs..... you NEED to have a Wasses hot dog. I grew up in Rockland and am very good friends with the owners nieces. I don't eat any other hot dogs except for Wasses with ketsup, mustard, and onions!! And one usually doesn't do it!! [30 May 2006 16:18:29]

Great dawgs - the peanut oil on the flattop grill gives them a lot of character. And, unlike so many hot dog establishments, Wasses knows a dawg ain't really a dawg without sauerkraut, and they make sure it's available.
The only downside to Wasses is the liquid pump cheese in a gallon jar. They need some good, sharp sliced cheddar instead. [03 Jun 2006 16:48:03]

Not as great as I remembered I grew up in Rockland, too, and after returning to the area after many years away, I was obligated to get a Wasses dog. What a nasty, greasy, salty mistake that was. I tossed it after two bites. Hands down, you'll get a better dog anywhere in NYC on the street. [02 Apr 2007 12:42:28]
