Give it a try The breadbox cafe experience is definitely something you should try once. Maybe twice, but frankly that's about it. Entering the establishment, it looked very chic, retro, comfortable with soft couches in a separate waiting room and the main dining area featuring local art, beautiful tin ceilings and hardwood floors.
The wine list is fairly extensive with both a "by the bottle" and "by the glass" menu.
The menu choices for both entre and appetizers were a little bland. The appetizers consisted mostly of various bread and cheese dips while the entire menu was "heavy handed" on bleu cheese (30% of the entre items had bleu cheese!!) - our food was mediocre at best and frankly it was the first meal I've had at a $20 a plate restaurant that left me hungry.
To sum it up, anyone with a minimum amount of cooking experience can whip up a superior meal at home in an hour or less. again, I wouldn't call it a bad experience, but so ordinary that the price tags of the meals were almost insulting. [20 Aug 2006 04:56:42]
