Straightforward Diner Chow
Benny's is a relative newcomer to Ann Arbor's diner/coney island scene. Located in the Colonial Lanes Plaza just south of its namesake bowling alley, Benny's is a popular lunch location for area workers. Arrive at one minute after noon, and you'll have to wait for a table.

The menu is pretty standard, consisting of American standards such as burgers, roast turkey and gravy, and a fairly typical array of soups and sandwiches, in other words basic diner food. To this they add burritos and quesadillas.

While the menu is not especially groundbreaking, the execution is consistently good. In over two years of occasional lunches here, I've yet to have a poorly cooked meal. "Basic food cooked competently" is how I'd describe it.

Great Food!!
Benny's offers tasty food at great prices. There menu is pretty standard but tasty! Be sure to check out their breakfaast specials (mon-friday served until 11a,) for an unbeatable deal. Also another big plus-Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30am until 3pm the whole restaurant is non-smoking--No wait for a non-smoking table. The food arrives quickly and the waitresses are quite friendly--also if you are lucky you may even run into Benny himself!    [21 Jun 2006 12:31:24]
