Authentic, excellent food Great Lakes never fails to give a good meal at a fair price (by Ann Arbor standards, which are a bit high.) This is one of the places where we eat regularly and always take visitors because the menu is interesting with excellent daily seafood and fish specials. Service is friendly and competent. There are usually lots of Asian families dining here, always a good sign. [12 May 2004 20:29:56]

Can't do better The menu is extensive, with many non-standard dishes all at an affordable price. Definitely the most authentic chinese restaurant in the Ann Arbor area. [18 Oct 2005 15:31:56]

Top of the Ann Arbor Chinese scene Great Lakes is the largest and most active of the Chinese restaurants in Ann Arbor with a strong native Chinese clientele.
Food - ask about the specials - they are on an easel by the door, written in Chinese with English subtitles and change frequently.
Dim sum on weekends is good, but does not change much. Would be considered only so so by West Coast standards.
Ambiance - has not changed much in the past decade and frankly could use a makeover.
Service - excellent, attentive and cheerful.
Prices very reasonable. [26 Mar 2006 14:25:34]
