Changing With The Times When I first went to Seva, it was... rustic. Since that time, they have remodeled extensively, and have updated their menu significantly. They have a large number of booths, and a nice, natural wood atmosphere.
They now offer some faux meat dishes which are at least as good as their real meat counter-parts, but some of which are "heart smart". (For example, they have an outstanding dish with penne, mushrooms, and meatless sausage, which most people would not even recognize as vegetarian. And with the meatless sausage, the dish is even healthy.)
They offer some very good soups, Mexican- and Indian-influenced foods, and clearly indicate on their menu which foods are vegan. They also offer fresh juices. Consider their specials - they have some truly creative people in the kitchen.
If you have vegetarians and vegans in the family, but still want to please the meat eaters, this *is* the place to go in Ann Arbor [05 Jul 2002 04:31:11]

EXCELLENT! I dream about the cheesecake! I've switched from vegetarian to vegan since the last time I visited and can't wait to go back! The atmosphere was nice, and the service couldn't have been better. I was upset to be full, I wanted to try EVERYTHING on the menu! [12 Sep 2002 08:06:20]

Passable, but bland with attitude I'm not a vegetarian, but eat at vegetarian restaurants for the food.
As you enter, it's quickly apparant that you're in the self-righteous vegetarian's country club. You get over it easily, but you wish they would too.
The food seemed creative, when at 18 it was the first vegetarian restaurant I ever ate at. Now it seems just bland. Spices are vegetarian too; so I'm not sure what the problem is.
The environment is very nice and comfortable -- wood everywhere -- and the service is professional.
The food is passable, but go to the Sunflower Cafe (or whatever it's new name is), a few blocks away on Washington, for truly good vegetarian food. [01 Dec 2003 19:23:49]

Food was good, but... I went to this restaurant after locating it by a web search. I was visiting Ann Arbor from Virginia, and was looking for a good vegetarian restaurant. Being an Indian and vegetarian by choice, I wanted a vegetarian place, but not necessarily Indian, and Seva seemed to fit the bill.
I ordered Moroccan Khous Khous, which was delicious, and with some Shiraz wine, I was in heaven. Both the hostess and waiter were really good. However I was very disappointed with the arrogance and ridiculing behavior of the owner. When I asked him whether I could take a card, he said, "Oh, no you can't" in a very smart alec-y way, following with "why else would we keep it here?". He was downright rude. All my sense of satisfaction was ruined by this impolite condescending behavior of the owner. He should learn or re-learn how to behave with customers.
I'm not going back there, even if the food was good.
