Best place to find a BLT made with a pound of bacon or a hot fudge sundae that can feed six: - Detroit Free Press; Tony's I-75 Restaurant makes those oversized portions at chain eateries seem like small potatoes. Everything here is big. The BLTs are indeed made with a pound of bacon -- all the better for shoppers at the outlet malls across the street to keep up their strength. - suggest change
A FEW MINUTES WITH: A diner owner - Detroit Free Press, 12 April 2004; At Tony's I-75 Restaurant in Birch Run, anything big is big. A side order of bacon? One pound. Banana split? Half a gallon of ice cream. A western omelette? Six to eight eggs. Owner Denise Fritzler, 42, has watched people pig out in her family's restaurant for 32 years. Question: What's on this giant BLT you sell? ANSWER: - suggest change

Tony's menu truly includes something for everybody. Portions are huge. Breakfast is especially good. Atmosphere is definitely not for everyone, especially if you typically have your nose in the air Weekends are frequently stand in line at meal times.
I would use the term "working class" to describe Tony's. I don't eat red meat, so the grlled cheese and onion rings are my usual. [01 Sep 2004 09:06:58]

You Just Don't Know This place is out of this world! I went to Michigan with my family and already had heard about Tony's and knew that I had to try it. So we did!
We were there when Tony's of Birch Run was under construction last winter and missed the great place but lucked out on the way home and found Tony's express. What a place to eat!
We ate, and ate, and ate and still had food left! I can't say enough about their BLT's and big steak sandwiches with onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Gotta go there again! We will continue to recommend this place to all who are going there! [29 Jan 2005 12:52:48]

Whoa This place is out of control. Eight pieces of french toast, Texas-style (one serving). Easily 1 lb. of corned beef hash as a serving. Come hungry. It's amazing.
An American commentary: Tony's is simultaneously everything that is right with America and everything that is wrong with America [06 Jan 2006 18:20:10]

The BLT This place is ridiculous, if you love to eat leftovers this is the place for you. I mean there is something about a BLT that has two slices of bread., a few slices of tomatoes and lettuce, along with 1 lb of bacon. I have ate here like 5 times and always go home with a container of food. Don’t order any desserts unless you have 4-6 people that also want some. [04 Feb 2006 10:44:11]

WOW I MEAN WOW We stopped by on the way back from a golf outing in Mt Pleasant. My buddy said they served big breakfast portions... Well I ordered a couple eggs which came with bacon and shredded potatoes and toast. Being a corned beef hash fan I ordered a side of that as well.. OH MY GOD. the corned beef hash came first, in an oval dinner plate in a heaping portion I really mean heaping. Must have been over a pound and the came the meal.. A gigantenormous pile of shredded taters a mountain of bacon... good bacon. not greasy fatty bacon. and somewhere tucked under there were my eggs. This was by far the biggest best breakfast I've had in my 40 years. [27 Jun 2006 12:18:03]
Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: anything with bacon & the corned beef hash

Absolutely Gigantic portions I love to watch people who are there for the first time when they serve a breakfast with a half dozen eggs and a pound of bacon or a bacon cheese burger that they have to put a 10 inch knife through to hold it together. Their faces are priceless. No one leaves without a box of leftovers, just like Gramma's house.
There's no way the poor waitresses can serve a whole table of 4 at the same time....not enough arm space or strength to hold 4 plates heaping with food at the same time. If you are in the Birch Run / Frankenmuth area stop here famished and still leave with leftovers.
I don't know how the restaraunt stays in business with their good prices and gigantic poertions! [11 Sep 2006 19:16:54]

Tony's is the one and only My family went there with two friends. We were very hungry and ordered the BLT and the Porkchops and a Strawberry shortcake and when we got it we all stood up and all at the same time said "get us a doggy bag".
Let me tell you, it was the best-tasting food I have ever eaten, not greasy and dry just plain good. I have been back 4 or 5 times and I live 200 miles west.
Keep it up you are fantastic. [17 Feb 2007 12:24:40]

Family Tradition My family and I stop here every summer, on our way up to (and from) the UP for camping. It's been a family tradition since before I was even born! This year, my fiance is coming along for the first time, and he's already excited to try this place out!
From the outside, it appears to be just a little off-the-interstate-truck-stop restaurant. Inside, you'll quickly learn that it's anything but "little".
Not only do their meals come in ridiculous portions (chilli by the gallon, bacon by the pound, bread by the loaf, etc), everything is absolutely delicious!
Always come hungry, and always ALWAYS plan to leave with plenty of leftovers! [26 Jul 2007 18:00:01]
Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: Spaghetti, Big Montania (burrito), Fried Chicken, ANY of their breakfasts
