Clarkston Cafe- Fresh face lift and great eats No longer the tired institution of yesteryear. Clarkston now has yet another fine dining establishment that will rekindle and excite the foodie in all of us. The menu is fresh with creative offerings that allow you to first feast with the eyes and confirm all expectations the first moment it passes across your palate.
Our party of 5 first sampled the tuna tartare with wasabe ice served with won ton chips. The tuna, cubed, very tender with a delicate application of sesame oil. Placed on a won ton chip and topped with a bit of wasabi sorbet delivered the perfect contrast of heat and temperature. Very creative. All of our party ordered a variety of entrées ranging from succulent seafood to tender steaks bursting with well aged flavor. All were served perfectly finished and beautifully presented. The wait staff knew the menu from memory and deliciously described their offerings.
Now I will tell you, and my friends will attest, that I can turn down the best of deserts. I was smitten into having the chocolate mousse. served in 2 chocolate shot glasses, supporting a slivered bridge of chocolate that held three clear delicate cubes of gelatin.
Wine pairings recommended by our waitress were good recommendations without pretension and well within our price point. what started out as a simple dinner out with friends ended as a 5 hour delightful culinary tour that left me tormented to return within 3 days to sample their hamburger that is prepared with lobster and served with a lobster infused butter that will take your mind directly to the north east coast.
My travels around the country have afforded me the opportunity to experience many of North Americas finest restaurants and I am delighted to find the Clarkston Cafe on par with the best I have tasted. [09 Apr 2007 12:34:19]

Clarkston Cafe regains it's heritage I grew up in Clarkston and the Clarkston Cafe was "the place" for fine dining. It lost its luster a long, long, time ago. But with the remodeling and the exquisite cutting-edge twist on classic fine French cuisine, it's back.
Incredible food... I have to warn you though that it is so good that once you eat here you won't be happy with other area restaurants. Truly on a par with NYC and Chicago dining. [05 May 2007 21:23:23]
