Nice change of pace The obvious comparison is between Del Taco and Taco Bell. In this case, the newcomer to the area (Del Taco) comes out on top.
Del Taco offers a somewhat broader variety of food than its more established competition, including fish tacos and tacos del carbon on its menus in addition to soft tacos, hard-shell tacos and burritos. Plus, Del Taco offers hamburgers for any member of the party who isn't up for southwestern fare.
The service was quick and cheerful, and I had my fish tacos in under two minutes, despite a lunchtime rush of business. While I've always preferred fish tacos without breading, the breading on the Del Taco version was light, crunchy and didn't detract from the flavor at all. It was a very tasty taco.
There's not a lot to say about the tacos del carbon, as Del Taco makes them in the simple, tasty and almost totally unadorned way that I've seen at the best Mexican restaurants. It's nice to be able to get a taco that isn't glued together with bean paste.
It takes a lot for a fast food place to impress me, but Del Taco certainly has! [05 Sep 2005 20:48:11]

Del Taco - Review - Ford & Telegraph, MI The fish taco and mucho taco are worth a special visit. Found that you can ask for made-to-order (combination) items with no problem, e.g., fish taco in large 'macho' hard shell rather than regular small soft shell.
The steak and chicken tacos are standard faire. The fries that are part of each combo meal are nothing special is better to choose individual items.
Beware of neon cactus' on ceiling that look like they are giving you the finger.
Looking forward to next visit. [02 Feb 2006 13:34:25]
