Description

What Irish restaurant would be complete without corned beef, Eph McNally's offers corned beef five ways. Also on the menu are spiced deli meats and some vegetarian choices. Sandwiches carry names like "The Penobscot" or "The Briggs Stadium." All sandwiches and dishes are supersized and reasonably priced. For dessert try the bread pudding. The decor features items from the '70s including board games and lunch boxes. Farrah Fawcett's famous swimsuit poster is also on display. Credit cards are not accepted as of this posting. Picture at right is linked from Detroit News shows Greg Mudge serving customers a low-carb (deli meat without the bread) choice. Rob McDonald is the owner who offers alternatives to fit the special needs of his customers. The Detroit Free Press chose this restaurant as the "Best Lunch" in 2003.

Corktown's favorite deli is Irish all the way, with potato bread, Limerick ham and blarney cheese. by Jane Slaughter - CitySearch - suggest change
Low carbs get high praise - Detriot News, Kate Lawson , 16 January 2003; At Eph McNally's, 1300 Porter St. in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood, owner Rob McDonald happily offers alternatives for his deli crowd. Folks craving one of McNally's luscious corned beef or beef brisket offerings simply need to request it sans bread, and waiter Greg Mudge gives nary a flinch as scribbles Atkins 2x on the order ticket. . . . . - suggest change

A still hidden treasure of Detroit.
Eph McNally's is a very nice little restaurant in Corktown on Porter street. They serve mostly "sammiches," that are excellent. The hours are from about 10am to 4pm, a little to short for my tastes, but I manage to get there anyway. The staff is cool and on point, and the decor takes you back to school with all the lunch boxes surrounding the dining area. It's the best all around lunch place in the city.
p.s. It gets busy during lunch so, come early, or eat standing...hehehehe.    [11 Jul 2003 13:01:14]

let's not forget those pickles
On top of the fab sandwiches, served up in a bell jar, they have really done the cucumber justice!    [07 Mar 2005 13:50:38]

Great break from the office ambiance!
The decor can be the topic of conversation through your meal; it is quite fun!
Food is great. Watch the portions if you are counting calories :-)
The staff could be a bit more helpful and friendly, but maybe that was because it was busy... or it goes with the "atmosphere".
if you are working downtown, make it a point to have lunch here to breat the monotony of your cubicle.    [06 Apr 2005 07:22:03]
