Superb Mexican Fare From start to finish, an enjoyable experience. Excellent margaritas, giant portions, great service. Make sure to get started with a plate of Nachos Supreme and one of their killer mixed drinks. Highly recommended. [02 Feb 2005 17:00:37]

Worst Mexican Food Ever I was shocked that this restaraunt was voted Best Mexican Restaraunt. My wife and I had the chicken enchilladas. The chicken was almost non-existent, they were the skinniest enchilladas we had ever seen and the tortillias were stale. My son ordered the beef burritto which was packed with hamburger that was dry and flavourless. I've had better Mexican at Taco Bell. [04 Apr 2005 13:34:01]

horrible food, great atmosphere El Azteco has a great rooftop. However, the food is terrible and the rooftop hours are random. I recommend it for drinks but never for food. [30 Aug 2005 19:15:03]

Anti Vegetarian Most mediocre Mexican food I've ever had. We went because we say it was "voted Best Mexican Food" in EL. Give me a break. Nice Mex like decor, but the rock music was crappy and too loud. Our server, "Emily" was curt, short, impatient, and in general I felt that all her customers were an inconvenience... but hey, we all have off days so I can live with that.
I attempted to order a Chimichanga with beans instead of meat - she rudely said no, it couldn't be done. I asked why, owner says we cant, I asked why, "No substitutions", but I am a Vegetarian I pleaded, "Can't do it." I tried to order a different burrito platter - same thing. I asked to see the manager and was told he can't do anything - it's the owner’s rule and he is insistent about it. The more I talked about it and asked questions, the more bothered the server got. I was ready to leave, when she suggested I could order everything off the "a la cart", which I ended up doing. Like I say the food was not that great, was difficult to order anything vegetarian except the a al carte bean burrito. I'll never be back. Todd G. [05 Jun 2006 09:40:21]

You're better off going to Taco Bell Over-priced food with poor service. The Lansing area has a significant population of good people of Mexican heritage. Peaceful, friendly neighbors. When I first moved here, I expected great Mexican food. There are a FEW good places, but El Az is not one of them. [12 Jun 2006 13:35:45]

Simply addictive I don't live in Lansing anymore sadly, but whenever I'm in town I make sure to take a dozen Chile verde Burritos with me to freeze for later! Don't listen to the naysayers... El Az is simply addictive and absolutely delicious! Get the beef chimi w/ guac for an amazing meal. CV burritos are fantastic, start your meal with the cheese dip - worth every penny! I also love the blue corn enchiladas, but order them spicy!
I will suggest avoiding the chicken dishes... I don't know why, but they just aren't very good. All in all, there's nothing flashy about the service or the plates, but damn, the food is fantastic! [30 Dec 2006 03:05:51]
