Hard to Beat Everyone who visits the Keweenaw has to try the Ambassador at least once. Great pizza, subs, pastas, and salads. Reasonably priced and a great atmosphere overlooking the water. You can smell great food from a block away from this place. [02 Feb 2005 14:36:32]

Not the Hype. A lot of people hype up this restaurant up here and personally I have not been impressed. I have been here at least 10 times. The only thing that I haven't eaten here that I can say is good is the pizza. Just the specialty pizza too. The subs are pretty weak, the price's are quite high, and you don't even get free refills on your soda. Also the service is quite poor every time I have been there. For example my friend bought a round of Jaegar bombs one time and because they didn't want to dirty the shot glasses he put them in plastic cups even though my friend dropped $30 on the spot. Also Bacon is a pizza topping but they would not put in on the potato skins, instead they put sausage on them. There are many other restaurants in the area I suggest for the price. Dee-licious Always I have been going to the Ambassador my entire life (26 years now) and everything is always delicious and consistent, which is more than most places in the area can say. The pizza, subs, salads, homemade dressings, spaghetti, ravioli, garlic bread, and even burritos are fantastic.
I've lived away from Houghton for 8 years now and I still have cravings and have even had their pizza shipped to me! Every time I go home, that's the first place I go when I get off the plane...before even going to my parents' house! I go back with two large pizzas everytime I head back to NYC. My life would be incomplete without a cheese & pepperoni well done pizza and a pirate's cove fishbowl! [07 Jun 2006 19:46:19]

I just went here seeing the college and went out for dinner. They had great food, yes there were free refills, and there was great service from some cute college girls. My friends got some sandwiches and I had a pizza. It was all great and the prices were just fine. I'll be going there again next time I'm up in Houghton. [21 Jan 2007 21:39:04]

Best Restaurant in the Midwest It's well worth the drive to the UP just to eat at the Ambassador. This is absolutely the best restaurant in the Midwest. [25 Mar 2007 22:00:38]

My Favorite Restaurant of All Time I don't care where I live or where I eat, the Amabassador Restaurant in Houghton, MI will always be my favorite. I'm grown up eating the wonderful food cooked here. My favorites are the pizza (they don't make pizza this good anywhere else on the planet!) and the french dip sandwiches. YUM! A great, causal dining experience at reasonable prices for family and friends alike! [27 Apr 2007 02:10:15]
