Good Nisu This place has served great breakfast for years and years. Delicious fresh bakery featuring their own home-made Nisu (Finnish coffee bread). Nice dumpy 50's atmosphere. [04 Feb 2005 14:20:17]

A fan!
Friendly service but bad coffee Food is middle of the road; the Finnish dishes are OK, although the Pannukaku is small and overpriced imho. The absolute downpoint is the thin light brown liquid that poses as "coffee". The service is very good, though. On the social side, you get to watch the locals ;-) [21 Sep 2006 09:24:24]

Great Breakfast, skip the coffee We always go to Suomi for breakfast when we are in town. The Finnish French Toast made with Nisu is great, as are the pancakes, which hang over the edges of the plate. It's funny the coffee is so bad. We drink it anyway because it's often included, but then we go elsewhere for a real coffee. It's definately nothing fancy, some may say a "dump", but you can tell the locals know it's a great place to eat. Friendly service always. Love the UP accents. [17 Feb 2007 19:57:52]

A Local's Haven It's an average, hole-in-the-wall place in an average small town. Being a student, I can say I mostly go there to try and fit in with the local crowd a bit, but they do have decent breakfasts - large, fluffy pancakes and Nisu french toast are the highlights, everything else is just typical cafe stuff. The coffee is essentially hot water with brown crayon in it, but I've had worse. Haven't been there for lunch, but the pasty is supposed to be pretty good.
Service can be slow when they are busy (weekend mornings), so plan for a leisurely meal. [12 Feb 2008 00:55:44]
