Eat Moore Ice Cream! Driving North on M-53, white lettering on a shingled roof proclaims, "Eat Moore Ice Cream!" Yeah, huh? As if I'm going to stop at this shack on the railroad tracks across from a grain silo.
But a month ago I did just that. Having driven past dozens of times over the course of 25 years, I took the plunge. I was delighted to discover that Moore's even sold the rarest favorite of favorites, orange-pineapple ice cream. I sprung for a double, dipped into a waffle cone. It took me half an hour to eat that monster of fresh-made goodness, sitting beside the tracks while late-afternoon thunder boomed overhead. A singular experience, one that will probably remain as the high point of my summer. [23 Jul 2006 03:02:31]

The Best Ice Cream I am originialy from the Thumb of Michigan and every time that I go back to the ol' home place, I stop at Moore's. Even when they are closed during the off season.
I remember as a kid stopping in there and getting black licorice ice cream. They do not sell it anymore. Something about having coal dust in it to give it the black color. You can't beat the ice cream though. Superman is my son's favorite. Nice people there too. [09 Aug 2006 22:20:33]

When I was in third grade I and my parents went to visit my great grandma in Michigan. We went to all the stuff that had to do with our family graveyards, the family farm with a car that had been sitting there for the past forever and of course our family at Moore's ice cream. Yeah you read right family my grandma was a Moore before she was a Fitch and my dad's cousin owns the place or something like that. Yeah and from what my dad said Baskin Robbins stole a flavor from Moore’s ice cream but I don't remember the details on that. I got free ice cream yup just gotta love have relatives that own an ice cream store. [28 Sep 2006 20:02:58]

I grew up on Moore's Ice Cream and have never found ice cream to compare to it. I haven't been back to Marlette in almost 40 years, but with retirement I think it's about time to go back and experience that wonderful ice cream again. I you have the opportunity, stop and try one a life few old fashion treasures that are left. [17 May 2007 18:23:29]
