Horrible
Our waitress was decent, however the rye bread was so dry on my roast beef sandwich that it was almost impossible to swallow. I asked the waitress to get me some new bread. She came back a few minutes later and told me that the cook said that the bread was suppose to taste that way! So she gave me a few pieces of plain white bread. (I hate white bread). If what the cook is saying is true...then Helen is buying her bread day old! The Chili was very bland and mediocre as well as my friends tomato Florentine soup. When the waitress gave us the bill she asked us "How was my sandwich?", I told her it was horrible. If you want to eat a good sandwich and soup in downtown Northville. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else....Anywhere but Helen!    [24 Feb 2008 17:48:24]

Not consistent
Walked in at 8:25p.m. 7/18/08 (sign said "Open" til 9pm) and a young man at the counter said the kitchen was closed (!) He then explained it was a busy day and they "were out of stuff". We walked out speechless.

Have been there in the afternoon - slow service but excellent salads. Will try contacting the owner to complain.    [19 Jul 2008 18:05:26]
