Description
Besides the usual deli sandwiches and American style burgers, this restaurant also serves Kosher cuisine including latkes, borsht, blintzes, gefilte fish and chopped liver. In addition to the individual entrees, they also serve family size servings of many entrees. Side dishes include soups, salads or homemade cole slaw. Look for some unusual deli combo sandwiches like the 17 1/2. This restaurant also serves breakfast all day including omlets, eggs, French toast and other typical American choices. Very reasonably priced compared to other deli restaurants. KOSHER STYLE, NOT KOSHER

Their blintzes are the best! I moved west for a decade and the ONE thing I missed most of all was The Bread Basket. You don't know what that place really means to you until you move away. Try the blintzes! [28 Jan 2005 17:10:19]

I remember the old days It used to be one of the great delis in the Detroit area. True competition to memories of Hy Horensteins, Ben and Georges' Leibermans, Nates and Fredsons. Now it is an average deli that is not particularly clean. [19 Jan 2006 22:45:49]

WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE AND PASTRAMI My son, daughter in law, their friend and 2 dogs are arriving tonight for Detroit's Dream Cruise from out of town. It's their anniversary weekend and all they want to do is Cruise up and down Woodward Avenue and eat a HUGE Pastrami sandwich from Bread Basket Deli. That, to them...is a slice of heaven! Since they're arriving late tonight....I told them I'd be willing to bear all the traffic just to get to the deli for them. I know THAT will be an Anniversary Present they will undoubtedly enjoy! PSSST...try the new dill pickles...ymmmmm! :-) [17 Aug 2007 18:10:36]

Just Very Sad This once was a fine deli, but EVERYTHING about this place has gone into the crapper. The food (all of it) was awful and the staff was clueless. The wait staff had very little familiarity with Jewish/deli food (seriously!). The place hasn't been remodeled since it was built and it looked very, very tired. I felt like crying.
