Description
Besides the usual deli sandwiches and American style burgers, this restaurant also serves Kosher cuisine including latkes, borsht, blintzes, gefilte fish and chopped liver. In addition to the individual entrees, they also serve family size servings of many entrees. Side dishes include soups, salads or homemade cole slaw. Look for some unusual deli combo sandwiches like the 17 1/2. This restaurant also serves breakfast all day including omlets, eggs, French toast and other typical American choices. Very reasonably priced compared to other deli restaurants. KOSHER STYLE, NOT KOSHER

Great! By far the best sandwiches in the business. A huge corned beef and swiss for $7.65, enough for two people. [30 Aug 2002 08:46:59]

Best deli - bar none! Whenever I get a chance to run into The Bread Basket, I always partake in enjoying a 17 1/2. The ultimate sandwich. A symphony in corned beef, orchestrated in harmony with the other attractions. Swiss, slaw, and the Russian dressing. In perfect tune with a nice bowl of soup. Whether it's the mish mash, or the chicken soup. A delight for the taste buds. A must stop, for the true deli goer. [31 Dec 2002 11:51:57]

The best julienne salad ever I ever tasted with turkey, cheese, and corned beef. Outstanding and great! What do I really think? By far the best! I live in sw Florida where we just got our first good deli. Its lovely but this is much better. I really miss the creamy garlic dressing that made me smile and then smile bigger. We seem not to be able to get good creamy garlic dressing in Naples. This deli should bottle their dressing so I could taste it again. [08 May 2004 18:20:32]

The Worst Corn Beef in the World Bread Basket Deli in Oak Park, MI 48237 is the worst corn beef restuarant in the world. Today, my family tried some of their food and it was horrible. The corn beef was too tough and hard to chew. The pickles were not fresh. My mom ordered some chicken noodle soup with no chicken. The whole meal cost $20 but it wasn't worth anything. I'm a fabulous Fershin!
The Best in America! I have traveled all over North America and this is the best Jewish-style deli I have eaten in. The atmosphere, the sounds, the smell of mustard and corned beef, the portions and prices can't be beat. I have raved about this place all over the US and Canada. When you are in the Detroit area (my original home town) you have got to eat here or you are missing a gastronomical delight. [25 Sep 2004 13:37:27]

Their blintzes are the best! I moved west for a decade and the ONE thing I missed most of all was The Bread Basket. You don't know what that place really means to you until you move away. Try the blintzes! [28 Jan 2005 17:10:19]

I remember the old days It used to be one of the great delis in the Detroit area. True competition to memories of Hy Horensteins, Ben and Georges' Leibermans, Nates and Fredsons. Now it is an average deli that is not particularly clean. [19 Jan 2006 22:45:49]
