Hometowm Fave You can't go wrong a Chicken Coop. They have been in Plainwell for a long time. They are friendly, the food is hot and always great. The place is kept very clean and neat unlike the nationwide chicken chain down the road. [20 Jan 2007 04:38:10]

A trip down memory lane The coop isn't new.. and that's one thing I love about it.. There's something quite retro about the whole experience.. Maybe it's the old block wall that separates the kitchen from the dining area, that appears to have seen a few coats of paint over the years.. Maybe it's the fact that they have about the most "low tech" drive through systems I've ever seen, (it's just a window), or maybe it's the fact that the staff there ALL seem to remember vividly what good old-fashioned customer service and quality is all about...
On my first visit I was hooked, and have tried MANY of the items from the menu and am yet to be disappointed by any of them. (the chicken is awesome!!) The staff truly go out of their way to ensure that you leave happy, and it's exceptionally economical to eat there..
I LOVED the "all you can eat fish" served after 4PM on Fridays, I'm not certain if the type of fish changes, but today's fish was a perfectly cooked Alaskan Pollock, and they're certainly not slow about bringing you another plate if you poke your head around the corner and just ask "more fish please!". In this day and age of plastic wrapped junk food that has the same nutritional value as the bag it cam in, the coop is a rare and under-appreciated jewel.. Fine dining it is not, but if you want a small down to earth tasty meal served by people who like to make their customers happy, then you can't go wrong with the coop. I've given it an A+ rating, in all but one area, where I have to concede that there are a few minor flaws with the ambiance - but my opinion is that it's the minor flaws and older ambiance of the place that gives it it's extra quality - no restaurant survives for as long as this one obviously has, without doing the whole job right, and sure she may have picked up a few chips along the way, but so have I!! Give it a try.. I think you'll be back :) [07 Apr 2007 03:58:53]
