Good Steak, Upscale Environment (and prices) In terms of some of the top steakhouses in Michigan - Ruth's Crisp, The Chop House (in Ann Arbor), and the Capital Grille - I would place the Capital Grille's steaks between those of Ruth's Crisp and The Chop House (with my preference being The Chop House). The dry aging process makes for tasty steak, but the aging process followed at The Chop House leaves the meat more to my liking. You can expect an excellent cut of meat, well prepared, with very good sides.
As you enter the restaurant, you can see various cuts of meat set out in the restaurant's glassed-in meat locker. From many seats in the restaurant you can also see the ovens where the steaks are broiled. If you need dining ideas, spend a few minutes watching them cook and see what most tickles your taste buds.
The steaks I have tried were all well prepared, and the sauces have been good. The steak au poivre lives up to its name - it is probably the pepperiest au poivre I've ever had.
A place where the Capital Grille stands out among its close competitors (high quality, high-priced steakhouses) is in its desert menu. Normally, after a huge meal and a big steak, I would pass on dessert. But here it is almost worth ordring a smaller steak just to save room. Every dessert I have tried here has been absolutely outstanding - with none falling into the overpriced, homogenous mediocrity that plagues the dessert menus of even many upscale menus. These desserts look great and, most importantly, taste great. [24 Dec 2003 16:59:07]

THE BEST STEAK!!! The Capital Grille is my favorite place to eat. My husband and I love steak, but cant ever find a really good one. The very first time I ate there I couldn't believe it, the steak actually melted in my mouth! Besides the filet they have the best mashed potatoes I've ever eaten and the drinks are fabulous. The ambviance and the wait staff are beyond remarkable. The wait staff will bend over backwards to make your evening enjoyable. I never miss a chance to eat there when I am in that area and recommend it to everyone that is planning to be in the area. [13 Jan 2004 18:20:20]

Best Overall Dining in Michigan Loyal customers and royal treatment never got better than with the "Grille". The company strives to provide anything the customer desires and great attention to detail is matter of fact. What a staff! The food quality is tremendous and seems to be made almost without cost consideration. Strong wine list. Best in Michigan. [02 Aug 2005 00:47:05]
