You Can Find It On Michigan Ave. Hot dogs, root beer, potato chips. The menu isn't too complicated but it doesn't have to be. Bill's is an actual old-fashioned Hot Dog Stand. It looks like a tiny Yellow House with a parking lot. You pull up, park, a car hop will take your order and in no time you are eating the best hot dog...ever! [29 Jun 2005 10:14:01]

The Best Hotdog I ever had I've been eating at Bill's for over 40 years. I can't wait for it to open each spring. My daughter even bought me a gift certificate for Bill's this year for Father's Day. When I was young I used to eat six at a time. Now I'm down to just four. [20 Jun 2006 12:17:07]

Basic hotdogs, great rootbeer Bill's Drive-Inn is a basic hotdog joint serving simple hotdogs with or without chili. After driving past it for years, I finally stopped in to check out its fare on a recent Saturday evening.
The dining at Bill's is as simple as it gets- you pull into an empty parking space and a server comes up to your car and takes your order. Like any good classic drive-in, your meal shows up quickly on its tray.
There's no menu, as your choices are a hotdog (with or without chili, mustard or onions), bagged chips, and a soft drink. I was reminded of the old "Olympia Cafe" skit on Saturday Night Live during the mid-70s ("Cheeseburgah, cheeseburgah, chesseburgah"...) without the accent and with hotdogs instead of cheeseburgers.
The hotdogs are a slender pinkish wiener hanging out both ends of a pretty average bun. The steamed wiener didn't strike me as having much to distinguish it, lacking much of a texture or flavor of its own, and the chili sauce was pretty much just along for the ride- I wouldn't say that it was bad, but rather that it just didn't strike me as having any quality that particularly stood out. The chips were a standard single-serving foil bag of Ruffles potato chips.
The root beer was rich and extremely good. Not foamy, but rich and flavorful. We found that other soft drinks ordered at the same time tended to pick up some of its flavor.
If you're looking for a Chicago-style or New York style hotdog with all of the trimmings or a wide variety of fried side dishes, won't find them here. If you're looking for a mild, unassuming hotdog or above-average root beer, then Bill's may be your place. [19 Sep 2006 13:10:54]

Perfect!!!!!!!!!! Everything is absolutely perfect! The root beer is better than A&W's. I loved the fast service and the happy waiter! [20 Sep 2006 17:54:16]

Best Chilli Dog Ever!!! I grew up in Ypsilanti and love Bill's hot dogs! My mom visits her dad in Ypsilanti every summer and always brings my brother and me back Bill's hot dogs. They are just as good as they were when I was little. It's so nice to see some things stand the test of time. This is a great old fashion mom and pop hot dog stand. If you find yourself in Ypsilanti, you have to stop at the little yellow hot dog stand known as Bill's hot dogs. [22 Jul 2007 11:37:27]
