Hoagies Heroes
If you're looking for a varied menu, you won't find it here. I was surprised to see a half page menu with less than 6 items on it, but what they do they do well!

The cheese steak hoagies, with or without peppers are a treat. My mate chose without and I chose with. The peppers are hot red chilis and add that extra bit of something to the hoagies.

Generous portions and fast service, good for indulging your meat cravings.    [04 Oct 2005 16:36:59]

Gotta get the peppers...
Gabriel's Hoagie Shop is especially popular with the crowd from the nearby GM plant- enough so that they make regular deliveries there. For those of us who don't work there, Gabriel's maintains a small and neat shop on Michigan Avenue, with a dining area consisting of half a dozen or so tables.

Ordered, with peppers, a Gabriel's hoagie is a zesty delight. The peppers add a slightly vinegary zing to an otherwise pretty ordinary sandwich that raises it up considerably in my estimation. Without the peppers, the effect is like ordering a chili dog without the chili- it misses the point.

The menu is small, about half a dozen items, making perfectly clear that Gabriel's focus is on its sandwiches. Aside from hoagies, your only other entree choice is a ham and cheese sandwich, or a salad. For side dishes, you can select from a variety of bagged chips.

The staff is pleasant and service is quick.    [05 Oct 2005 13:51:22]

Can't eat just one!
Out in the middle of nowhere, theres an oasis of good eats. Gabriels Hoagie Shop. Killer cheese steak hoagies. There are steak hoagies and a ham and cheese hoagies. Make sure that you get the pepper relish, it adds just the right amount of heat. The place is small and usually always packed at lunch time. We drive over 20 minutes to pick them up for lunch. One will do but one and one half is the ticket. By the way, right down the road Bill's Hot Dog Stand has the best chili dogs and homemade rootbeer. They serve you in your car. It doesn't get any better than this!    [04 Aug 2006 14:01:39]
