Steak, steak and steak. If you want a great steak, go to Lindey's. If you, or anyone in your party DON'T eat beef, don't go.
The menu is painted on a board. Choice of three (excellent) steaks. Takes a while to cook, but it's great. [25 Apr 2001 22:58:20]

Too Much Steak Doesn't make any sense not to be able to split an order. Most women, men for that matter, cannot eat a 16 ounce steak. Not a place to bring wife or girlfriend. [30 Aug 2001 09:10:03]

Steaks Can be Split, Ask the Server Very GREAT steak! I've split a steak with my wife before. You need to pay extra for the extras that come with the meal like salad, bread (awesome bread), and their great buttery potatoes. Occasionally I have gotten a grissly cut. I asked the server and they made me a new one. [03 Nov 2001 17:56:01]

Great Eating for Many Years. Have eaten at Lindey's when I am in the Twin Cities for over 37 years. Always great food. A delight. [27 Aug 2002 13:55:45]

Not impressed I took my wife, hoping to have a nice Valentine's dinner. We arrived, they sat us on about a 2 foot wide table. We decided to tell the hostess that we'd go to the bar, have a pre-dinner cocktail, and wait for a better table.
My wife had a glass of Merlot ($5.00 a glass) and I had a Manhattan, about the size of a shot glass ($4.50) which I believe evaporated before I took a sip. Too much ice for such a small glass.
After about a 40 minute wait, we did get seated in a nice area/table.
After ordering the top-of-the-line steak, the salad and toasted bread were quite delicious, the steak came hot, though chewey and unseasoned.
The service was good (Thank you, Mary). I doubt if we will return. [11 Feb 2005 23:33:03]

Worst food Ive ever had I went to this place expecting the best steak and sides in the twin cities. I read this site and heard from a few people how great this place was. In reality it was the worst steak I've ever had, it tasted like over-salted roast. And the potatoes had so much sage in them I couldn't even taste the actual potatoes. The service was fine, but with only 3 things on the menu (steak, steak or steak) how hard can it be? Not to mention the to-go boxes aka "people bags" were disgustingly rude. Who pays $30 for a steak and then when you want the rest to go has it picked up like a pile of dog poop in a bag which is then tied at the top? I have never been so disgusted in my life. And the actual restaurant is literally a giant trailer house with cabin like interior...The taste is still haunting me, but at least the dog liked it. [22 Sep 2005 23:19:58]

Best value in town I have been to the most expensive places in town for a steak and Lindey's by far is the best value for what you get. All you can eat on bread and hash browns and a salad too if you ask. Steak was a tender huge 16 o.z sizzling delight. If you want to pay 8.00 for a martini, 10.00 for sides and have a trendy atmosphere, go somewhere else. If you want a great steak, friendly service and a warm cabin like atmosphere to enjoy with friends or family then Lindey's is the place to come. [11 Jan 2007 12:22:36]

Great Steak, vintage atmosphere! There are a few great steakhouses in this country and Lindey's is high on the list. They prepare the most tender steaks around. Great meat, cooked to perfection. If anyone in your party won't eat beef, don't go. The menu NEVER changes ... it's painted on a board and has been for years. I get to Minneapolis on occasion for business and always try to get here. They finally entered the 20th century and now take credit cards! I doubt if the place has been remodeled since it opened ... and they still serve the salad in the same cheesey melamine bowls. Some things never change, and for those of us that know the place, that is part of the charm. The next best steakhouse was the Stock Yards Inn in Chicago, gone for 30 years. :-( [14 Mar 2007 23:56:37]

What a shame! I had not been to Lindey's for quite a few years and was eagerly looking forward to the great steak I had enjoyed there. Nothing had changed -- except the steak. It was horrible. It seemed to be very cheap meat run through some kind of tenderizing machine and/soaked in I don't know what. Very odd texture and flavor. Tasted like a big slab of minute steak -- or perhaps minute liver. My three dining companions all agreed it was the worst. I've had much better $ 10 steak dinners at cheap restaurants.
