Great food and atmospher to boot! We are new to the area and have found both service and food to be wonderful. They carry a great wine selection as well. We have enjoyed a quiet dinner here and a stop at the bar for drinks another time and were very impressed with the casual, quiet and helpful service and atmosphere. One downside is the accoustics in the bar make it a hard place to have a conversation if the bar is busy. [24 Feb 2002 14:29:24]

Not up to par this time Dined at Axel's Chanhassen Saturday, June 15th with some friends. Our waiter was too busy. Aparently servers were cut too early and because of that service suffered. We got the wrong appetizer and he didn't come back in 15 minutes so we could get it exchanged. I ordered the Swordfish which was ok, but over done. My wine glass smelled as if it had just come out of the dishwasher, or the attic. One of the two. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the expectations our friends had expected and that was a little embarrassing. [19 Jun 2002 19:31:54]

Adequate, didn't leave hungry Was recently in town on business with a small group, we ended up having diner at Axel's two nights. Basically, we had a satisfactory dinning experience, service was not exceptional or prompt, one server was friendly the other surly, but both took a long time to get drinks and appetizers and then diner came while we were still working on the appetizers. Importantly the food was good, all that ordered beef dishes were very pleased, seafood, was like stated by another poster, over done and dry. As typical the server asks “Is everything okay?” and you haven’t had a chance to taste (still had the appetizers to deal with) and then not checking back and you’re sitting there going well I’d return it if I could and now everyone else is eating so you just chalk it up to experience and start eating and so glad it is on “company expense”. Will be back in town sometime in the near future and will return, the steak was very good, the sweet potato hash browns are worth trying at least once as are the mo’taters. [19 Nov 2003 18:53:55]
