Finally! I have been looking for a real Italian restaurant in Minnesota since relocating from Chicago 11 years ago. The food was exceptional, the service outstanding. Mario Lanza singing in the background clinched it. The ingredients were obviously fresh and all dishes are made from scratch, no Alfredo sauce from a can here. Conclude the meal with a stroll down Hasting's historic Main Street or along the Mississippi and you've got one great dining experience. [07 Aug 2002 08:32:54]

romantic and good food Visiting from NY and looking for a good Italian restaurant. Surprised to find the best in Hastings MN-little town 20 min S.E of St Paul. It was romantic too. [20 Jan 2003 23:11:15]

Why the hit and run? I've been meaning to try this restaraunt since I live nearby, so we gave it a try on Valentines Day. The special event menu averaged about $30 an entree. I wasn't prepared for that, nor was my wife prepared to eat a Filet Mignon smothered in jalepenas. She ordered this based on the comment our waitress made insisted it "wasn't too spicy". I cannot comment on the regular menu since it wasn't offered that evening, but the bad experience on that very special night will probably keep me from giving it a second chance. Outstanding I took my son and his wife here and they totally loved it. They lived in Italy for 5 years and were extremely fond of the food there, and they rated this is good as any place they ate over in Italy, and they are very fussy about their Italian food! They will come here again on their next visit. [10 Jun 2003 16:59:09]

Kelly Belle There were so many reasons I moved to Mnnesota from New York. One exceptionally important reason is my wife. I have found a town where I feel at home: Hastings. There is a scandinavian shop to feed my heritage and Norwegian major from St. Oaf, and an Italian restaurant that rivals the pizza of "Mr. Pizza" where I rode my bike as a kid. Mississippi Belle is fine dining in an east coast way in an unlikely place. It's in Hastings, Minnesota, under a bridge over the Mississippi, not the Hudson! [31 Aug 2003 17:38:32]

thanksgiving Not a place to dine on thanksgiving: weird turkey stuffing, only one salad, dried thin slices of bread, no desserts to choose from, a tiny slice of pumpkin pie, and bad coffee. Service was good. Nice waitress. That's all folks. [26 Nov 2004 23:23:11]

Very Rude Owner I was dining in this restaurant for lunch, and my wife and I overheard a very rude owner conducting reviews of his servers. He was extremely anal with them and didn't praise them for anything, and we felt really sorry for the way he treated them. Since we were the only people in the restaurant it was very annoying to listen to. Also, it was way too expensive for a lunch menu. We also felt very rushed to leave. [02 Jan 2005 22:59:42]
