Are you serious After hearing so much about it I decided to try the 128 Cafe. I may have my hopes set a little too high from all of the fine things that I had heard about it. I simply didn't enjoy the place as much as others I had spoken too. I ordered a rack of ribs. For the price I assumed they would fall off the bone with delight. On the contrary they were quite chewy. My first complaint. My second would be the atmosphere. I wondered how a restaurant would clean up the basement of an apartment building. I soon found out that they didn't! If you are willing to spend the money for an enjoyable meal wouldn't you want to do it in an enjoyable atmosphere? One with a little attitude all of its own? [10 Jul 2002 19:49:06]

a hidden gem I think this is a wonderful little restaurant that has consistently delicious food. I have been here three times now. The ribs were delicious, better than any at the rib fest, the wine reasonably priced, the deserts were so good (served with Izzies ice cream) that I have to actively avoid them for fear of waist line expansion. Those who have eaten here with me differ in their opinion of the setting. I quite like it, rather simple, somewhat resembling the inside of a cabin. The tables are fairly close together, so it's not intimate. Others think it looks 'cheap'.
Overall I really enjoy coming here and will continue to do so. The service is friendly and attentive, the food has been consistently good. It is easy to park on the surrounding streets and the Valet is unnecessary. [25 Aug 2002 18:17:06]

The Ribs were wonderful I absolutely recommend the ribs!! If one goes there for Sunday brunch, try their Sake Bloody Mary. It has just the right amount of zest. It is impossible to find parking in the area though, so you will have to use the valet. Although I must say that was the nicest valet I had park my car. [07 May 2004 12:23:18]
