A Little Taste of Singapore in Savage Spice is an excellent experience. I went here on New Years Eve - of all nights to try something new.
My initial impression was not that grand... it's in a strip-mall store-front, and there were only a few cars out front (less than 1 mile away, the Burnsville Outback Steakhouse had a 2 hour wait). Inside it is well cared for and clean, though it does feel a little sparse.
Fair warning, if you are new to Thai food, most entrees are spicy-hot, although the amount of heat is selectable; Mild, Medium, Hot, Thai Hot and Challenging. Most appetizers, on the other hand, are not at all spicy.
The appetizer selection is large, and includes many items that you'd expect from your favorite Chinese place, including cheese-puffs, chicken wings and spring rolls.
My wife said that the spring rolls were the best she has ever had. They are delicate and crispy with a good balance of filling - served with an excellent sauce.
For dinner, she had a fried Walleye dish, and they graciously brought the spicy peanut and red curry sauce in a side dish (my wife doesn't like very spicy food). The "mild" was a little too hot for her. I tried it with the sauce and think it was an excellent dish.
Myself, I had the Pad Thai (with Chicken). This is the staple dish of Thai food, and Spice creates an excellent rendition. I ordered it hot, and will probably get Thai Hot next time I visit (and I will definately go back).
The service was excellent. As for price, the Walleye was around $15, and the Pad Thai was near $9, which comes close to describing the price ranges available on the menu. [02 Jan 2004 08:48:20]

My family and I have eaten at Spice Thai many times and tried a variety of dishes. All levels of spice. All of the meals have been excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. [28 Jan 2004 16:41:04]

Really BAD service I did an order to go. The guy I spoke to on the phone was not professional at all. I asked for what kind of vegetables come in the vegetable thai fried rice? He told me broccoli & pea pods w/ scallion. When we picked the food up & brought it home....the vegetable fried rice had way to much vegetables & hardly any rice! What he stated was incorrect. It had way to many different vegetables inside & did not taste good at all. I called to tell them about the fried rice & the guy said that he would credit me. But then when we went for the credit, the owner was VERY RUDE & said that you could not get the credit. I would suggest eating at **SAWATDEE** - the food is a lot better & tastier. Spice's food smells like dead fish!!
I would not recommend Spice Restaurant to anyone!!! [08 Jul 2004 14:55:36]

Best Thai Food in the Twin Cities The best Thai food since LA. We love Spice's Pad Thai and the Pla Sam Ros. Their authentic Tod Mun and Curry Puffs are also very hard to find. The fresh spring rolls with tamarind sauce topped with crush peanuts are out of this world. They serve Jasmine rice with their meals which I think is the best rice in the world. Highly recommended. My New Favorite Restaurant This place is a gem. Working downtown Minneapolis for the last 15 years, I have been a loyal Sawadee fan. However, Spice has won me over. I don't think Thai food can get any better. [17 Sep 2004 10:35:18]

Truly Thai My wife is from Thailand and this is her favorite Thai restaurant in metro. We have been there quite frequently and have tried many dishes. Only once was there something that wasn't good, but it was still OK in my eye (it was mussels that weren't done to our liking). But overall, the food is amazingly authentic. The owners are from Bangkok as well as my wife so they have become good friends. As for the decor, it was originally a Chinese restaurant so they have just added some Thai decorations to give it the cultural feel. Overall, our favorite Thai food outside of Thailand.
