Not Recommended for Weddings or Events
Just wanted to drop a note to anyone considering having Outing Lodge hosting a wedding or special event. Just to recap, the rooms smell mouldy, the food portions were less than a sampling at a grocery store and the customer service was rude and unprofessional. The servers were teenagers and children. Our wedding coordinator quit 2 weeks after our wedding because of how the ownership treated their customers. Please look elsewhere for hosting a special event or wedding--this place is not worth the risk.    [11 Dec 2003 16:03:55]

Good Food, Awful Service
The Outing Lodge is a great concept gone bad. The owners are horribly rude and the service is terrible. I wouldn't wish the Outing Lodge on my worst enemy. Don't go here.    [06 May 2004 09:49:01]

Message from the Manager: Excellent Service and Food
As manager, I have long ago responded to these anonymous reviews but this site have not posted my response. The Chef Moz site has not responded to my emails requesting information about who signs the reviews. There is no editor for this page and the site seems to be also "anonymous". This site should give this restaurant's owners the opportunity to respond and defend their business and their name. Stay Away at All Costs
I went in March 2006 for a wedding anniversary.

Dirty...car parts in the stairwell to the rooms. An entire rear axle assembly and gear housing. Bob Dylan suite had less ambiance than my dorm room in college and was less well finished. A growling yellow Lab met us on our walk around the grounds (owner's dog?) Not at all what is marketed or promoted or as has been writen about locally.

The owners should be ashamed for even charging to stay at a dump like this. $200 a pop in rural Minnesota ain't cheap and this place stinks.    [28 Apr 2006 11:51:59]

Babette Feasting
Our group had a terrific time at Outing Lodge. The accommodations are somewhat rustic but only add to the charm, in our opinion. Host Lee and Carlotta were great and also quite entertaining with stories of restoring old Mercedes and Argentine abductions. The feast itself was fabulous as was the conversations with other guests. This B&B is unique and may not be suited for those interested in a more pedestrian experience.
