Best Ribs on the Planet I'm currently in the military and I have traveled all over the USA trying many BBQ places. One thing is for certain.... I have never had ANY ribs as good as Hickory Log serves.
They breed their own pigs to have longer ribs with nearly no fat and a lot more meat. Then they slowly smoke the ribs over Hickory while adding their special blend of spices. They also have their very own tasty rib sauce to complement any meat served. With or without the sauce they are simply awesome.
The restaurant is very nice and very clean place, down home enough for everyone to feel comfortable in. Yet at the same time just classy enough to make a lasting impression on your client or date. During Christmas the place changes with old English decorations looking quite beautiful!
If your visting or just passing through this is one place you shouldn't miss [29 Dec 2000 00:29:26]

OH HOW I MISS THOSE RIBS! I lived in Dexter for a short 4 months as a missionary. Just thinking about the ribs at the Hickory Log make my mouth water! They are bar none the best ribs I've ever tasted. If I ever get rich I'll fly to Dexter from the rockies each week to gorge myself on ribs! The last time I had them was in 1986 and I still remember how they tasted! [15 Feb 2001 03:47:21]

BY FAR THE BEST RIBS!!! I grew up in PB, MO. not far from this place. I have traveled extensively through the US and Canada, tried numerous types of ribs, and I have NEVER found any to match those made at Hickory Log. I now live in Nashville, but each and every time I am able to visit home, this place is ALWAYS part of my agenda. I have even purchased thier BBQ sauce, but cannot match thier talent. I have even thought of having them UPS Overnight some to me just to prove to everyone here who the real champs are when it comes to BBQ ribs! Thanks Hickory Log for your little slice of heaven on earth! [14 Jun 2002 14:57:46]

Not What They Used To Be I visited Hichory Log Restaurant several years ago when passing through. At that I agree that they were the best ribs I had ever had. On October 11, while passing through Dexter again, we stopped in and got a slab of ribs to take to my Son's house 30 minutes away. I'm sorry to say these were the worst ribs I have ever had. There was almost no meat on the bones and what there was was very tough. Sorry to see this happen since they used to be so good. [12 Oct 2002 18:47:59]

Home of the Best Ribs in the world!! Hickory Log not only has the best tasting ribs in the world, it's the entire atmosphere that also makes that restaurant such a great place. Just as senses such as sight and smell can enhance the taste of a particular food, the atmosphere of the home-town, small-town restaurant of Hickory Log enhances the taste of these already delicious ribs! I'm not from Dexter or even the Dexter area for that matter, but I always feel at home at Hickory Log. [11 Mar 2003 21:06:36]

Love those ribs After living about 13 years in Poplar Bluff and enjoying your ribs, we stop in whenever we are out that way. We now live in Florida and would love to be able to have the ribs shipped to our home. Do you ever do this?
We stopped last month when were through Dexter, ate and bought 3 racks to bring back to Florida for ourselves and my daughter and her family.
GREAT RIBS ONCE AGAIN! [19 Dec 2003 22:29:04]

Yummmm I grew up in St. Louis but my dad was from a little town called Bloomfield near Hickory Log. Once in a while we'd be treated to some great Hickory Log ribs and they were awesome! I'm not even a rib person, but now every time we go to Missouri (we live in TX now) we freeze at least one side to bring home with us.. along with at about a gallon of BBQ sauce... Just a great place all around!! [06 Dec 2004 18:00:56]

Best Ribs on the Planet I ran across the Hickory Log once when traveling through MO, and for years kept the memory of the sweet, smoky ribs. I told many people they were the best in the world. Fifteen years later, I went several hours out of the way to eat them again, and they were as good as I remembered. I grew up in Texas eating barbecue and have eaten barbecue from Oregon to South Carolina, and the Hickory Log has the best barbecue I have ever tasted, period. [11 Aug 2005 12:41:57]

Best Ribs I ever ate! We have friends in Dexter who recently surprised us by sending two packages of these ribs. My husband and I both agreed that they are THE best ribs either of us have EVER had, and can't wait to eat our second package of them! If you like ribs, you will LOVE these. [18 Aug 2005 14:47:26]

Other Ribs just do not compare to THESE!!! I have family in Dexter Mo, and when I would go down there I would pick up at least two sides of ribs to bring home to Columbia to my family. I have tried many ribs from many different places and I can say uncontested that once you have had ribs from the Hickory Log, You will soon forget the names of all other places that make smoked ribs. If you are a rib fan and if you ever need to go to Southeast Missouri for anything, Stop in at the Hichory Log and you will see what I am talking about. [23 Jan 2006 00:15:54]
