Safe to Eat Here??? I just saw Debbie Gold prepare a dish on the Great Chefs TV show and was truly amazed and repulsed that she ran her fingers through her hair immediately before sticking her hands in the food. Who knows what else occurs in that kitchen.
Hopefully, the owner of the restaurant will read this and do something about it. Ms. Gold should be terminated immediately. There is no excuse for this sort of behavior by an experienced executive chef. [10 Jan 2002 19:28:44]

In response to I just wanted to inform the public that Debbie Gold has moved on from the American Restaurant to start her own venture with her husband Michael Smith. A new Executive Chef, Celina Tio took over the restaurant in August, 2001. Perhaps you should give their new Chef a chance. [07 Feb 2002 01:03:33]

You people are idiots!!!! I have been an integral part of the fine dining scene in Kansas City for a very long time. Any person who feels the need to discredit Chef Debbie Gold, either has issues with her apart from being a Chef, or has no clue what food is supposed to taste like. Chef Gold is a superior Chef, along with her husband Chef Michael Smith. Her experience, and awards speak for themselves. The American Restaurant is going to be a very different place without them, and that may not be a good thing. I wish the new Chef luck, she has some very large shoes to fill. Good Luck Michael and Debbie on your new restaurant. [09 Jun 2002 22:21:19]
