Not bad, if you like cheese... ...lots of cheese! This place could sell anything if it were deep-fried and had cheese melted on it. [13 Sep 2000 12:26:05]

White Chicken Chili, Artichoke Dip, Blackened Fish...mmmmmmm... When I first moved to St. Louis, two friends took my husband and I out for dinner to Lewis & Clark's in old historic Saint Charles. Not only was the ambience great with the cobblestone streets lined by quaint shops that sells antiques and speciality items, but the food offered by Lewis & Clarks was outstanding.
After a friend of mine ordered a blackened chicken breast with vegetables, I did the same only with fish and was not disappointed. The flavors were terrific! Not too hot but just the right mixture to not completely overtake the mild white fish.
On a separate trip for lunch, my husband and I stopped in on a cold day to get soup and salad. When we tried the white chicken chili, we though we had died.. it was so terrific!! After commenting to the waiter about our pleasant experience, he came back with the recipe card!
I would recommend it as a "must see" while shopping in Saint Charles [19 Nov 2002 14:55:00]

A Local Favorite I've lived in St. Charles my entire life. If anyone asks where to eat while they're here I highly reccomend Lewis & Clark's. It's a St. Charles favorite.
It has a great atmosphere, perfect for a romantic dinner or a group of friends. Fresh flowers on the table and candles are a couple of things that add to the experience. When it's a little warm sit outside on the third floor for a great view of the lamp lit historic Main Street and the Missouri River. To end the meal take a walk down the street and enjoy the little shops and friendly people.
As for the food - the best. My boyfriend and I have tried lots of dishes, but we usually order the same thing. He gets the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and I get the White Chili and Club sandwich. I've gotten a hold of the recipe and anyone who's tried it is amazed. Add the sour cream and a few jalapenos provided. The cheesecake is also great.
They also brew their own beer and root beer down the street at Trailhead.
It's also extremely affordable. The two of us can get out of there with tip for under $25.00!
My boyfriend and I now live in Columbia, MO about an hour and a half away and we miss it terribly! [17 Jan 2005 14:29:14]
